Rules

While we are not an official Mozilla community, we have adopted the Mozilla Community Participation Guidelines as far as it can be applied to a bin.

Rules

  1. Always be civil and respectful
Don't be toxic, hostile, or a troll, especially towards Mozilla employees. This includes gratuitous use of profanity.

  2. Don't be a bigot
No form of bigotry will be tolerated.

  3. Don't post security compromising suggestions
If you do, include an obvious and clear warning.

  4. Don't post conspiracy theories
Especially ones about nefarious intentions or funding. If you're concerned: Ask. Please don’t fuel conspiracy thinking here. Don’t try to spread FUD, especially against reliable privacy-enhancing software. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Show credible sources.

  5. Don't accuse others of shilling
Send honest concerns to the moderators and/or admins, and we will investigate.

  6. Do not remove your help posts after they receive replies
Half the point of asking questions in a public sub is so that everyone can benefit from the answers—which is impossible if you go deleting everything behind yourself once you've gotten yours.

I'm not pushing the video, it is there for people who don't want to read. Sorry for wasting your two minutes. Here's some more analysis (also linked on the original post).

Where has this narrative that Mozzila is poor come from? They can afford to make this decision based on philosophy. They're not Apple rich, but they're not struggling for money. They would just rather give it to their executives than use it wisely

Well, going with Github wasn't quite as stupid a decision when they made it, which iirc was so long ago that it hadn't yet been acquired by Microsoft. As with other typical corporate problems, once they got started down that road and had some sunk costs they couldn't find the strength to turn back even long after it became apparent that it was a mistake.

Monthly active Firefox user count down another 4% since a year ago, down 18% since 2021. A steady decline. Something big needs to change at Mozilla whether or not the Google cash firehose get shut off.

Yeah that's why I said easy access - I preferred about:profiles, but in practice that was still too much of a hassle to actually use As far as I can see this is mostly separate from your existing profiles though, as in, those aren't listed in the new UI.

What happens when 4,500 people ask for the same feature? At Firefox, we build it. I mean, it's very very cool that they decided to add that feature. But pretending that they carefully listen to the user's voices and eagerly implement their suggestions... Come on...
