now one BNPL provider has announced a deal with a gaming company to allow people to finance in-game purchases. Great, another data leech for marketing machine offers interest-free biweekly payment plans Uh-huh. I wonder, what do they monetize on, if the debt is interest-free. Surely this is only to grow user base. No basket analysis at all...

Kind of true, but the EU is not America, so don't apply the same standards. In the US it's extremely difficult to find a single politician that is not a completely corrupt criminal. The EU, on the other hand, is filled with a lot of politicians that also prioritize their positions and comfortable lives, but at least generally have somewhat positive intentions. As for the European Citizens' Initiatives - they are very serious and usually result in actual legislation. Of course, there's no guarantee that this specific petition will lead to consumer protections. The only guarantee is that the European Comission will consider and talk about this. Afterwards, they'll negotiate with the lobbies and sometime later we - citizens of the EU - will get to write public feedback about the Comission's proposals in a post on their website, that may or may not be taken into consideration. Overall it's still a fairly corrupt, far from ideally functioning system, but it's nowhere near the level of rot that the US is throwing out on full display. Despite the MEPs primarily looking out for their own best interests, we regularly receive more and more laws that benefit regular folk and not corporations. Meanwhile the last time the US has seen any real pro-people change was what, 40 years ago? The EU may be far from perfect, but please do not put it on the same shelf as America. There's no comparison to be made.

Completely agree. I think maybe digital hoarding can be real when it gets to the point where people are buying excessively to the point that they cannot afford it, but hoarding disorder would typically be associated with physical goods that are cluttering your space to dysfunctional levels.

I was actually thinking places like Humble, or often times I just go straight to the publisher or Dev, since they keep 100% of their profit that way and often offer a discount. I have never used G2A, nor any site that redistributes keys in that manner. But in the month it took you to respond, I already read up on this, and honestly you exaggerated your claims to the extent that I'm not really interested in asking your opinion anymore anyway. Your hate boner kinda showed through. So I guess... uh... thanks for following up anyway and have a good one!

Even 60 is high. I'd buy a lot more games day 1 if they were around $40.

The title alone is amazing are more limited than some gamers may think. Once a character is pregnant, they can’t Woo-Hoo anymore, they won’t age, they can’t take a pregnancy test (?) and they also can’t blow out the candles on their birthday cake because of the aforementioned not-ageing thing. It looks like a curse

He worked at Blizzard, but not as a developer, it’s been likened to someone who worked in the billing department at a hospital weighing in on medical care. A QA would probably be more involved, since they would be testing the game or something related to the game. How relevant his experience was depends on what he worked on and who he had access to talk to. I learned a lot about electrical engineering while working as a software engineer at a company that built custom antennas because I talked to the EEs a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a similar experience at Blizzard. preferring the ego boost of being a streamer And probably the money. With a big enough audience, it pays reasonably well. I doubt his games are selling well enough to live off of. He claims he was review bombed He claims the other publisher was review bombed, I'm talking about his studio's games, which do seem to be review bombed (overwhelmingly negative for recent reviews, positive all time). I think a lot of people who are mad at him were following him Perhaps. But a lot of people knee-jerk join the bandwagon as well. Look at everyone jumping on the Godot hate train. I refuse to form a negative opinion without being fully informed, because the cult of public opinion can be absolutely reactionary. So I err on the side of giving people the benefit of the doubt. And yeah, content creators jumping on the bandwagon isn't my cup of tea, since they have a motivation to exaggerate to get views. I want a pretty unbiased, fair take, not a rage bait take, and that's more likely to be found on a forum like this instead of on YouTube. Hence why I'm asking.

IIRC Witcher 2 used eON which is also some sort of translation mechanism. But yeah, native port is not a guarantee of stability. Wine/Proton is a guarantee that you’ll be losing performance on overhead due to those being a reverse engineered reimplementation of Windows libraries. It can be mitigated due to Linux being more performant and/or less bloated with adware. Regardless of all of this, we should be making comparisons to as-is performance because that’s what ultimately matters to end consumer.

Unfortunately, I'm ineligible to sign. But yeah, it's incredibly dumb that you have to claim you're a Steam Deck to be able to play if your internet drops or whatever.

Well, that's something: Another developer stated: ‘Well, we ended up with a model that basically targeted members of the Saudi royal family and charged them 100x what regular players would pay for the same microtransaction, and it worked..’

Apart from maybe you, everyone knows that it's currently legal. Why do you so urgently want to discuss it? But ok, let's catch you up to speed. It is currently legal. Everyone knows that. Do you want me to repeat it? It is currently legal. Everyone knows that. It is currently legal. Everyone knows that. It is currently legal. Everyone knows that. It is currently legal. Everyone knows that. With that out of the way, answer the question or go away. It has nothing to do with hypotheticals but with goals. Do you do the same when you negotiate for your salary? "Do you want a raise?" - "No, I don't deal in hypotheticals. Understand how much I earn." - "Ok, no raise for you."

Same. I would love to see a global societal shift towards viewing not having children as a perfectly normal thing to do.
