I've seen quite a few. The box office numbers are regularly better than they should be.

I do like that particular fact lol, but the first movie is one of my favorite movies so everything else just doesn't hold up to it. I think what did it the most was that all the attempts at satire in it just fell flat, like they were trying to mimic the first movie without "getting it".

Surprisingly little of that, sadly. Also, subtract a few fatalities because the creature technically isn't a dinosaur.

Kirby and starfox seem like they'd be gold IPs to use. Kirbys cute and can do anything. And starfox is cool space stuff. What the world needs right now: Mother HBO series.

American Sweatshop: Watched it recently at a film festival, not sure if it can be watched somewhere else yet. Overall i liked it, but wasn't blown away by it. Going into it i was expecting it to be a bit more like On Falling, which imo has a somwhat similar setting with both protagonists working terrible minimum wage jobs (in content management and a amazon warehouse respectively). But where On Falling was more quiet/bleak and documentary like, American Sweatshop leaned more into having a thriller angle. Also still weird seeing reddit as a social media site in a movie. Little Forest: Recently watched the Korean version of Little Forest from 2018 to compare it to the Japanese one Little Forest: Summer/Autumn and Winter/Spring from 2014/15. It wasn't bad, but i have to say i vastly prefer the japanese one, which imo is amazing; Just the perfect mix of delicious food, nature, farming, cozy atmosphere and great character development. This one just didn't manage to create the same vibe.

Caught it last night... Tonally, Gunn absolutely nails it. The main characters are perfectly done, the B-list characters like Mister Terriffic and Metamorpho are perfectly done. There are issues with some of the C-list / background characters. Hawkgirl didn't really have much to do and I don't think Gunn knew what to do with her, which is a shame. Giving her a hawk shriek instead of actual dialog was... a choice. She needed more speaking lines. Similarly, the background characters at the Planet, Cat Grant, Steve Lombard, were just kind of "there". Nobody, not even Perry White, has a "Hey, where's Clark?" moment. I think Gunn was just working from a checklist of who to include. Ma Kent... I don't know where she's from, but it aint Kansas... Loved the Kents interactions with Clark, but... OK, I'm biased, I married a woman from Kansas, I've been to both Oklahoma and Kansas... I don't know what that accent is. All of those are minor quibbles. It was a great way to do Superman. Now: Spoilers: ::: spoiler spoiler Easter egg reference to Mister Mxyzptlk. Lois and Clark are having a serious conversation while outside the window Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl and Mister Terriffic are fighting a giant glowing eyeball. "Oh, it's just an extra-dimensional imp, they got this." Setting up Supergirl - Krypyo is her dog, Supes is just pet-sitting while she runs off to a red-sun planet so she can get plastered. The opening of Woman of Tomorrow. With Mister Terrific and Metamorpho in the same movie, we've now had 1/2 of "The Terriffics", all we need now are Plastic Man and Phantom Girl(!) I've been trying to re-watch it and this explains why it's unavailable. As someone who only knows western (aka Greco/Roman) mythology/cosmology and only the bare basics of others - including Chinese mythology, I was able to follow the storyline despite symbolism and (full) meaning not being perspicuous. It was still a cinematic delight especially on the big screen. Interestingly, I then re-watched Ne Zha (1) and the extra information and nuance gained from Ne Zha 2 enhanced my second viewing. Or perhaps I was blinded by bias from the magnificence of NZ2. Either way, rare is the sequel which so utterly eclipses its progenitor.
