That's actually a novel approach I didn't think about. Thanks for sharing! I am not playing a ton of games really so maybe that is also something I could consider. What software are you using for this and could you share something you've written? Only if not too personal of course, I understand you might not want to share, that is OK.

Ah, I see. So the issue is on Valves end? I'll probably give it a few more weeks/a month or two. Hopefully Valve would have addressed this by then. Thanks for your help and time.

Dishonored runs quite well. I'm also playing God Hand with a PS2 emulator. What a ridiculous game.

Reddit/Lemmy don't have to be a monolith to have a clearly defined and easily seen accepted narrative. Posts and comments that considered frame generation viable when Nvidia was the only one with the technology were massively downvoted and got absurd replies, universally. Even more so here on Lemmy. Now the Steam Deck subreddit is dominated by posts about Lossless Scaling and users claiming they can't see any artifacts or latency at all. When AMD introduced their, quite objectively inferior, implementation of frame generation Lemmy immediately shifted tone. I can go to any random thread and say "I think FSR frame generation is great!" and nobody bats an eye. A shift in overall tone is quite easy to see and measure, regardless if the website is not written by a single individual.

Like the others said, you should probably clarify your question, it's kind of unclear what you're asking. If you mean using GE Proton versions, they are just available in your game management options in Gaming mode once you've installed them, just like any other Proton version is. If you mean downloading / installing them, I'm not sure what your objection would be regarding doing that in Desktop mode... using ProtonUp-Qt to do it is really quick and simple. If it's the length of time for booting back and forth between Gaming mode and native Desktop mode that's your pain point, you can always just use Nested Desktop to flip over to your Desktop mode functions while you're in Gaming mode and eliminate most of that wait time. I cover how to set that up in this post here.

I have PC2 in my collection but haven't tried it on the deck yet. I played quite a lot of the original Project Cars, which has a career mode, but that one is just seemingly linear progression, "moving up" in the series. It's unfortunately lacking the entire car collecting aspect, checking which of your cars works for a specific event/series, and if none fits, "go shopping" for a car that does. I also have Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione on steam, and they are great sims to sit down in front of the tv, set up a wheel and go racing, but they, too, lack the entire car collection aspect. You start a race or series, hop in a car that's provided, and once done, you move on to the next series, abandon the old car, and get in a new one. Really the best thing I can play is GT4 or Forza 4 on an emulator, and Forza 4 doesn't currently work on the 360 emus

You need a smaller monitor for this, full stop. A tablet isn't a monitor. Anything you try will lag like hell.

Would have never expected that, I'm glad I came back to this thread to see if you had made any progress. Searching online about that, sounds like it's actually a somewhat common issue (that I had never heard of before now). Basically the advice is to try a better quality hdmi cable, swap to 5ghz wifi (which is less likely to get interference from this than 2.4Ghz), route the hdmi cable different to have more space between it and the deck, or add ferrite cores around the ends of the hdmi cable.

I suddenly feel so dumb and vindicated at the same time. I'm using a easy smx controller which form some reason was connecting in Nintendo switch mode to the deck. Removing and switching the mode to Xbox controller fixed the whole thing, I also wiped any programming just in case. Why do I feel vindicated? I kept the instruction booklet.

I have two chargers and they're both official, however I did plug it in once recently to a phone charger, which basically did nothing. But anyway there's definitely something wrong with it, because with both chargers, they only work in one direction, which I've never seen before with usb C. I've opened a ticket.

I ordered a k1 max from keychron today. It was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but it looks to be a good board. This one looks interesting. I have used ergo boards but never a split board.

There is a bugreport about this somewhere, I think the SteamOS github. Basically the charge limit doesn't work in standby. Maybe it's a hardware limitation of the LCD models. I have that as well.
