I wonder how many people will struggle to cut themselves off from their reddit crackpipe. So many people are still using Meta shit even after it's been overtly weaponized against dissidents.

I bet only a handful know about it.

The day I saw Trump win I knew Reddit was going on the chopping block but even then, it’s been going downhill since 2016 with bots, bot mods, and language policing. Merely saying ‘fucking Luigi’ is a ban worthy offense and it’s absolutely asinine.
Truth is this place will fall too. Unless someone can figure out how to protect against these take overs. The rich control the Internet just as easy as they control everything else.
If this is successful, it's only a matter of time.

I turn 40 on 4-20. We’re old now homie

I can likely fall into some version of a category of learned professional. IMO, it's fine, many of us have made our migration to Lemmy. Reddit can burn.
A bit weird that there isn't the same cultivation of professionalism though. I feel I don't see much of it here like there was on Reddit. Makes me wonder if Reddit worked behind the scenes to create it

I never believed reptilian conspiracy theories but now every time i see his photo and his eyes remind me of reptilian. So what if it is true? What if them ultra rich with true background story how they climbed ladder of power and success are actual reptilians who make regular earth humans do crazy shit. What if? Because nothing else controls people on the planet but ultra rich. Ultra rich do not go to wars and usually do not deal directly with poor common man. They live in their own world behind the walls similar like in the movie "In time". Putin does not go to war neither his children, or trump. They send poor/uneducated or impressionable people to spill the blood of others.
I wonder if it's an affect of the media we would be consuming will use awkward photos and videos whereas their media uses more normalized. And vice versa.

It always amazes me people keep on using centralised platforms like reddit.
Sure lemmy isn't perfect but at least if one instance goes crazy you can always switch.

Shame that the “DAE CHINA BAD” being shoehorned into unrelated conversations has made its way over to Lemmy now.
The Chinese government is an authoritarian shitshow. This is objective fact.
Before you even try it, don't "what about" and point to another authoritarian shithole like that makes China's continuing abuses ok. It's not, and there is no defending it. To attempt to do so is excusing it, and merely shows your ignorance and/or complicity.

That's more or less why I left reddit came to lemmy.
This is in fact my very first post here.

I have been less active there since the API fracas, and since they announced they're policing upvotes? I haven't been active at all.

Before it, it’s PC paradise now a days.

The same mods who arbitrarily ban users while without showing what rule they claim was broken?

Ah the "free speech absolutist" strikes again.
Any time I hear someone say they are "free speech" I am going to pause because what it means is: "My speech > your speech"
True free speech means you know when you're wrong and when you need to change, or as I like to call it: EMPATHY

They're still pressuring and mass banning
