I honestly wish this was still the case. There doesn't seem to be as much training in customer service anymore. Half of the things I get told over the phone these days were a fire-able offence when I worked support.

Idk I start out all my interactions with a positive neutral perspective and because I tell a customer I can't take a return because the website says so I guess that means its 100% in their right to yell and berate me.

I genuinely have decent interactions most of the time because I DO treat people well, but I certainly don't get the same respect back.

How about this? HANG UP THE FUCKING PHONE. Heard my wife do this today. You get one chance to be an ass, then fuck you. "But MY job, bla, bla, bla." She works for the largest company of it's kind. She hangs up.

And BTW, English is her second language, so imagine the racism and abuse people start with. Yet she's rocking out and next in line for a promotion. Yet native English speakers get their ass kicked. One must wonder what is happening. Must be the customers, couldn't be the rep.

It's always a shock to me when I interact with someone providing customer service that isn't using a customer service voice.

I was checking into a hotel (a large chain too) a while back and the person checking me in was having some trouble. She goes "sorry, this system is just retarded some times."

I actually laughed out loud because it caught me so off guard.

That's how I talk! Maybe not those words, but yeah, I talk to them like a friend-of-a-friend who called for help. I SO love getting someone like that on the phone. When I realize I'm talking to a human that gives two fucks, my attitude lines right up, even if I started mad. Amazing how people react when treated like people.

Lemmy: I'm autistic and need a 254-page manual as to how to smile correctly.

No, you're not autistic, you were robbed of human social interaction by schools and society. There's nothing wrong with your brain, you're not special, you're a victim (sorta, get over it), STFU.

And the next waiter or waitress that says, "Absolutely sir!", gets punched. These people have an instruction book that mandates "absolutely"?! I humbly ask for some salt. "YES SIR ABSOLUTELY SIR WOULD YOU LIKE A BLOWJOB SIR?" "Just some salt would be nice enough. Thank you."

Seeing the huge lack of empathy in the world in other avenues, I am starting to suspect they don't even notice it's not genuine. Like they would never actually notice the smile reaching their eyes one way or the other.

In my ex's case, she was well aware of it. Apparently she "practiced it" since she was a child because she got sick and tired of being told to "smile" and that no one looked good frowning all the time. Self-proclaimed resting bitch face model too.

While she could take off and on this mask, it was incredibly draining to do it. But she also couldn't not do it. It was weird.

Unfortunately for her, she also couldn't comprehend the emotions of other people at all, and failed to grasp why I might be upset that she cheated on me, and why I might be more than happy to cut her off from the financial security that being married to me provided.

I think the hierarchy is maintained by levels of suffering. Don't let them see you sweat. Remember to smile. As long as somebody is suffering underneath your level, and now it might not be hierarchical....but with the whole bottom that we belong to, the herd at the bottom, moving around network of just passing around 20 bucks living off of ancient infrastructure on a burning planet as the psychic vampires suck us dry. As everything, even the nutrition in our food is hollowed out. (I just can't get no satisfaction. All Work No Play makes a dull, boy.) Where everything is designed to be a drug. Where the machines are designed to destroy themselves. An inverted evolution where the dumbest, most anti-social make their way to the top like the scum on a pond. Everybody is just happy little beast of burden whistling Dixie. It's a small world after all, and you have to remember, work will set you free. You try to shake them and say, this is like the allegory of the cave, "this is the allegory of the cave" but they don't like your perception. Even though it's closer to reality, and then they start to hate you. If you have any little bit of happiness, they want to destroy you for awakening up their minds. The intelligent in the United States pulls the cart of stupidity while the idiot sits on the cart Sipping tea. People here are just in a dream state. I like countries where they're rude to you at restaurants. Where they say, no, we can't do that to your food. That's not how we do it here. You can go elsewhere. The customer was always right, was always a way to beat the working class. Like the bully that gets you to punch your own face. It is just a system of abuse and self-awareness is a double-edged sword.

That was my biggest WTF when I was diagnosed autistic. I always thought one of the main defining features of it was not being able to read people's expressions and emotions. I am pretty good at that, even without looking in people's eyes directly.

I think when people don't look into other people's eyes, it's because they don't have faith in themselves and they have a fear of intimacy. Their fear of intimacy is valid because the external factors of the working class life leads to a lot of dysfunction where people have their lives ruined by the desires of capital. I grew up in a age where everybody had ADD and these drug companies wanted to sell us nazi meth. I was diagnosed with ADD, but I really think I just had post-traumatic stress disorder. And I think that life continues to be triggering. I also think people live different lives in other countries. It's not this bad elsewhere. America has such a horrible record with mass shootings. That it would take the world...... I think we'd go to World War 3 before they could get up to the metrics that we have. And a lot of libturds don't want to admit this, but there is solid evidence that this is all based upon socioeconomics, interpersonal relationship struggles, which all has to do with the lack of capital and a crumbling infrastructure. And what's interesting is rich people also have these problems too. And I think it's because everybody needs everybody and we need to live in a more social society rather than an anti-social society because even rich people suffer under this system of abuse. It's hard to think rich people are also suffering. It almost makes me want to vomit. But I have to go to my higher self and remember money is nothing. These objects are nothing. These material objects are nothing. This is a program, a system that is running through society to benefit a few. The Empire loves people that are willing to sell out and throughout the ages, this is how they've made things work. By bribing people, getting people to sell out their own families, their own communities. When you don't conform to the mode of production, you will grasp that straws, claiming a medical dysfunction. But just like an onion, there are layers to everything.

i've wondered if it's partially correct but missing important context, like how it turns out autistic people are actually generally really good at communicating with other autistic people.

like what it feels like to me is that autistic people can be better at reading people, we just aren't born with a cheat sheet in our brains, so we first have to learn to identify things and then we can pattern recognition the shit out of it.
