After a long and tiring session of trying to figure out how to put Doom on a website for a project via jsDOS, I decided to kick back and relax with Super Mario 64. I went ahead and hopped into Jolly Roger Bay, which is one of my favorite levels in the whole game (bold take, I know.)

I went ahead and did the ship star first. I usually do the star in the cave first because I struggle with that damn eel so much (or if you were younger me then it just creeped the fuck out of you). This one when I do it, I always try to race up to the top before the water fades down. Right now my current best is the second closest platform. I bet a speed runner or someone good at them game could get it quick though.

After that I hopped back in to do the cave star. I don't know if it's just me or what, but the level always looks wrong after you clear all the fog. Like before It seemed nice and cool and a nice place to relax and take a nap, and without the fog it kind of lost all that character.

Before the cave star, I got side tracked with the platform, trying to get up it for some reason despite knowing only red coins were up there. I ended up calling it quits though after slipping off the platform for the 5th time though.

After that though, I stopped and just started kind of looking around (something I've found this game to be very good for). I ended up observing the fish tanks and how there Is light coming out of them, which is something I kind of never considered. Especially because as far as I know we can't see any lights in there. Idk, it's just something I thought was interesting.

Mario 64 allways takes me back. And its kind of nice to share the nostalgia with Nintendo64 players since I've only played it on the Nintendo DS

There was so much magic in this game. That soundtrack and overall atmosphere was incredible. I remember trying it in little bite-sized pieces at Toys R Us and the McDonald's lobby and being really blown away.

Nintendo always seems to have that shared nostalgia for all their games. It's really interesting too see, because you can get people 3 game generations apart and they still share the same nostalgia
