Yeah, I genuinely don't understand the point of peace talks when one side doesn't want peace.

Putin does want peace. He wants his peace though, which is unacceptable for Ukraine and (I hope!) most people in the EU.

Depicting the issue of how this conflict should be resolved as a binary "peace" vs "war" choice (as some do both among those who support Ukraine and those who'd like to seem them capitulate) is of no use.

Trump is Putins puppet and he tries to bring Ukraine to give Russia land, in exchange for ending the war. So yes Russia wants peace. The problem is that Russia has shown that peace with them so far, just meant a longer ceasefire. Hence peace keeping forces.

Mmm I wouldn't call it peace, I'd call it surrender.

Putin desperately needs a couple of years of peace to regroup and rearm. Also, a "peace" would bring back trade and drop sanctions. He's on his heels militarily and economically. Sure, he can keep going like this, but the stalemate is draining the country's men and rubles.

Makes me so goddamned mad that we (the US) could have easily kicked Putin's ankles out from under him if we had gone whole hog in supporting Ukraine. This should have been over a year or more ago.
