Not in the sense people usually use the phrase "action points".

In D&D, on your turn, you get one action. That might be hitting someone with a sword, casting a spell, or whatever. You can also move, but that's not typically an "action". Some classes also get what are confusingly called "bonus actions", which are extra things you can do on your turn. Rogues, for example, can try to hide as a bonus action even after they did a normal action like shoot someone. A regular fighter who shot someone with a bow wouldn't be allowed to try to hide on the same turn, but the rogue could.

Because you only get one action (and bonus actions), no one calls them action points. You might say "you already took your action" or something.

Compare with a game like the original Fallout. You get a number of action points based on your stats. For an average character, it's 7. Shooting someone typically takes 2, a called shot takes 3. I think movement also takes action points. So on your turn you might shoot someone 3 times (six action points) and move a little (1 action point). Or take a called shot (3 AP) and move a lot (4 AP). Lots of options. Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 also use action points in a similar way.

This is way more explanation than you probably needed. The key thing is on D&D you typically do one thing on your turn (eg: attack, cast a spell). Pretty much every action has the same "cost" in this sense. You can't really mix and match, and there's not as much tactical depth on your turn. (Pathfinder 2e gives you three actions per turn, but I don't think anyone calls them points there, either.)

The US has always been fascist, since Manifest Destiny up to and after WWII. Fascism is just now turning inward towards the people who never thought they'd see this end of the stick.

Still, despite all the hatred and forces pushing us apart and pinning us down, this is our opportunity to restructure the country and make reparations to those we've wronged.

Have radical optimism in the face of radical hatred.

And when that canary croaks, it'll be another. And another and another, so long as we don't have to get up off our asses and stamp out these evil fuckers and undo their shit

It's not that easy though. We are at the conclusion of a decades long campaign to poison not just our government and politics, but our society as well. Take out every fascist tonight, and we still have to contend with the fact that, as a people, we are no longer capable of operating a democracy. Healing the divides and fixing generations of indoctrination takes time we don't have.

I'm not saying there is no hope, but we have to sober about the tasks ahead of us if this country is ever going to heal.

I'm sure that the same folks who couldn't get Harris elected will be able to create an international pact more powerful than the UN.

Well we're not allowed to vote in US elections, so the Harris situation doesn't really reflect on our abilities.

Ehh naw we just need to let it reset. The house of cards will crumble as soon as Trump croaks, then once ceaser is gone Rome will burn. Hopefully what comes after is better, but it probably won't.

Personally, my family came to this foreign land, that's not ours, to seek out a better economic life and freedom. 2024 was the first election that the youngest voting generation went more conservative in the last 100 years. The beliefs of this nation no longer align with my own, so I'm returning back to Europe where my family once came in search of those very values. I realize a lot isn't great there either, but I have more trust in the EU protecting my fundamental rights than I do the US Constitution.

Failing that, at least Europe has better wine and I'll just enjoy the view while the world ends.

He’s definitely also weak, he flip flops on every move. They would be further along if they weren’t handcuffed to a senile narcissist with one foot in the grave. OTOH they have only gotten this far riding his cult of personality, once he kicks it I have a feeling the whole party will collapse into infighting and not get anything done.

Oh Trump is definitely weak, but the progression of fascism under him is not. These two things can be true at the same time, especially because the issues he flip flops on (mostly tarrifs) aren't actually necessary for the fascist takeover.

They would be further along if they weren’t handcuffed to a senile narcissist with one foot in the grave.

I'd say the opposite: Trump's aggressiveness and recklessness has actually been a boon to MAGA (and a bane to everyone else). A more careful fascist might've actually had to win the midterms.

OTOH they have only gotten this far riding his cult of personality, once he kicks it I have a feeling the whole party will collapse into infighting and not get anything done.

I see this view a lot, but to be frank I think it's naive. I mean, up in Canada fascists have rallied around Pierre fucking Poillievre (here's hoping I spelled that right); these guys will take anyone as long as they can do their fascism. Fascism isn't an artificial construct; it's a political phenomenon that arises under certain conditions and no one person is necessary for its success once those conditions are met. That is to say: After Trump dies they'll just find someone else, probably after a brutal and bitter internal power struggle.

They have literally taken charlie kirks death and used it as a means to attack left leaning people from all walks of life.

                        • This is a full blown government takeover of the American media
                        • They're forcing left leaning people out of their jobs in almost every industry.

And what makes this even worse is that it is so blatantly obvious that the info surrounding kirks shooter is almost a complete invention of the trump administration. The ridiculous bullets. The note that magically disappeared. The text messages that sound as if they were written by a 55 year old....

This country is so good and truly fucked. It just so depressing and sad. And even more depressing because it seems like no one is really even trying to fight back.

The time to do something was back a few decades ago... back in November there was a good chance to buy some time... now it's all uphill but it will only get harder the more you guys keep on "waiting for it"

Out of all the possible ways out of this, 99% of them started with Republicans not having full control of the government. Buying time would have allowed more Boomers to die and more Millennials to pull their heads out of their asses and start voting, getting elected and involved in party politics.

I really appreciate this remark but I think it kind of leaves something out, among the hopeful message.

I think America is actually experiencing the greatest theft of wealth, being transferred AWAY from the middle- and lower- classes, TO the ruling Elite.

I see people dancing up and down on leopards ate my face, just as one random example... But the short-term mockery misses the long-term pain under which we will all suffer.

There are farmers who love Trump who are going to lose their farms, when they are purchased by large conglomerates, after their overseas markets were intentionally destroyed with tariffs. The last thing this world needs is more Monsanto-esque food control.

There are huge swaths of US tourist properties that are going up for fire sale in the next couple years. All of that land is going to be stolen because no one can/will visit. Although tourism is a huge industry, it's still highly competitive and the margins are razor thin. Most tourist destinations will not be able to weather the storm.

Manufacturing, agriculture, travel... like.... I could just make a list of so many lives that businesses that are going to be destroyed. And there's fatcats just waiting to strike and steal what they have built, for pennies on the dollar.

America is in a massive crisis right now. People are so busy focusing on mockery and schadenfreude and identity politics, there's not a lot of talk about what's actually going on in the bigger picture!

All of America's wealth is being stolen. Every citizen is having their generational wealth swindled from under them. Even if there's not a direct loss one could point to, massive inflation has horrendously deflated a century of citizens' wealth building. Families have been set back generations, even if the course is reversed. Reproductive rights are almost gone. Bump more children out with less ability to feed them, more slaves.

It's such a dire situation and people aren't grasping the scope of it. It freaks me the hell out.

I don’t doubt they wanted to gauge reactions. I doubt ABC was part of that in any way.

Sorry I can't gauge your sarcasm I just watched Anne Rice bullshit. So just in case:

When asked by Jonathan Karl at ABC News asks

What do you make of Pam Bondi saying she’s gonna go after hate speech? I mean, a lot of your allies say hate speech is free speech

                                        Krasnov responds

[I] should probably go after people like you, because you treat me so unfairly. You have a lot of hate in your heart. Maybe they’ll come after ABC.

And a few days later an open loudmouthed and funny critic of Krasnov gets fired at ABC. No connection whatsoever.

It's almost like you have to fight for your rights. The pacifist party is never going to do that, so wave goodbye..
