Boom, Belgium — In what may become a turning point in the global pursuit of accountability, Belgian federal police have arrested and interrogated two Israeli soldiers credibly accused of war crimes in Gaza. The action came in response to an urgent legal complaint filed by the Hind Rajab Foundation and the Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) earlier this week.

The suspects were identified and arrested with a clear show of force at the Tomorrowland festival in Boom. After being taken into custody, they were formally interrogated and released. The Belgian Federal Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that a criminal investigation is now underway.

      Wow.

This is honestly shocking, but in a good way. It feels like most countries want to do like American Democrats and just pretend to be shocked and appalled while doing nothing of note to stop the genocide, and then here comes Belgium, nabbing a pair of war criminals with impunity.

I love it. Make the baby killers scared to leave their country, the way it should be.

Such a good thing that a Republican got elected, and the genocide is over now, right?

Formally interrogated and released... to return to Israel where they will never be extradited from. Progress?

This could end up being a turning point for the way Israel's crimes are treated. Or, it could mean absolutely nothing and things just continue on as usual.

It seems to me that, since this is more than any other country has managed so far in terms of actual accountability, that yes, it's progress.

Even if all they accomplish is making it harder or riskier for Israelis to travel, it's a good thing.

Such a good thing the Democrats policy ensured they lost the election.

Maybe should have not supported genocide? 🤷

AOC is even catching flack for her completely inappropriate vote on the MTG admendment.

It's kind of interesting though that the only person trying to take any funding away from Israel right now is a Republican. Sure they're doing it for antisemitic reasons but frankly I don't care why they're doing it as long as Israel stopped getting the money they're using to commit a genocide.
