"You aren't allowed to make a quick joke unless you spend countless hours developing your art skills".
You people are weird.
This sums it up in a nutshell. I actually plan to work on my drawing skills because now I can do it digitally and that’s now interesting. But I already had this image that I generated a while back and I thought of a good use for it and I thought it was funny and relevant. Fuck me I guess
️.

countless hours? find three .pngs in google, a pangolin, a chair, and a desk. put them together in something barely more advanced than paint (so opacity is preserved), and it's done. time to learn that skill: 10min max, time to use that skill after the initial learning time: 2min per image
it doesn't have to be good, it doesn't have to be drawn, it can be 3 pictures smushed together that's okay, what it does have to be, in my opinion, is made by a person. Not a glorified plagarism water boiler
Your advice is to take three things directly created by other people and combine them together? That’s literally plagiarism.
-
read about it before you decide to make a clown out of yourself
The arrogance is astounding. You immediately assume that anybody with a differing opinion than yours has that opinion because they are uninformed and clueless, and once they have the facts in hand they will immediately come around to your PoV.
i am an artist
I guessed. Most of you haters are either feeling your livelihood being threatened or resenting that you had to spend hundreds of hours learning to draw and insisting everybody else has to do the same.
Sounds like a republican.

Was a nice comic! Keep it up, and remember to ignore the vocal minority of idiots. You can tell from the upvote ratio that most people DGAF that the image is AI.
That’s OK. I’m sure all those negative people were capable of drawing outstanding pangolins before they ever saw my comic. Because they absolutely definitely knew what those were, and could draw all those scales freehand from memory.

how about you just.... try? i started drawing two months ago. quit being a baby
Quit being mean for no reason.

Quit being mean for no reason.
wrote on last edited by [email protected]quit killing the planet for memes. i think thats a pretty damn good reason.

Reality check: Most people DGAF. Check out the upvotes on the post to see how many people care.
Look at the ratio between our two comments.

the shittiest handmade rage comic is better than the finest AI made meme

no, that's how image macros have literally always worked. youre plagiarizing the artists by using generative images that scrapes their livelihoods without their consent. also, if you took someone elses picture of a pangolin, you can credit the artist. can your AI do that?

the difference is that the people who make pngs of singular objects/animals mean for those images to be used by others.
AI companies force feed algorithms with everything they can find, permission from the creators or not

I was going to say I don’t have the desire to devote the time it would take, but then I realized: I have never tried drawing digitally before. And I totally already have everything I need to do it. And now I am intrigued.
do it!! im serious!! learn to appreciate the hard work of creativity! it's a labor of love. your machines will not help you grow.
i deeply regret having used AI after experiencing the magic that is creation

nobody is telling you you have to freehand from memory. stop making up strawmen

wrote on last edited by [email protected]lemmy.dbzer0.com i believe, browse the communities tab and you will see a lot of comms where this would be a welcome addition; such as the stable diffusion and bot art communities.
you can use your same account that you have here, as well! no need for a new account unless you want to.
edit: small note you’ll still need to login through your original instance if you choose to keep this account. kind of confusing as a user, i know. the fediverse is great but i think the UX, like a lot of open source, is quite lacking.

if you can't say anything nice, it's okay. Don't say anything at all.
i'd rather receive negative feedback and know what to improve than no feedback at all and be clueless as to why people don't care about my works.
using the plagiarism machines to generate things for you is widely frowned upon in every creative industry
Here's some feedback on how to improve for ya, get better opinions and stop parroting the boring anti creative narrative lemmy users have.

Wait, what? Are we not allowed to criticize AI art unless it's of something that we can provably draw ourselves? Lol

LLMs are the epitome of anti-creativity

No it's not. Not if you synthesize them into something new, which is what this comic would have been.

Oh wow you're just a tool then I guess... The most "republican" thing I've seen in this thread is you refusing to accept valid criticism about using garbage technology.

That is exactly what the LLM did, only to a greater extent. This pangolin has never existed anywhere else. It was created based on my specific prompts and my instructions about which styles to draw from. That is the same process humans use when creating images in a particular style. Inspiration is not plagiarism.
