A doomsday device is useless if no one knows you have it.

Just wait! Then they’ll start flooding space with mini satellites. Then they’ll start dogfighting with them. 🙂

You need me to recap this exchange inception? Allow me.

I injected myself in this as you made your opinion on how another person was racist torwards chinese in general, as they saw China, the country, as in the regime, as dangerous.

You ascertained your moral high ground out of being well travelled and cultured, without ever addressing a single point of the other person's argument. Your concern was their apparent racism under your higher morality.

I opted by criticizing this position of your, by clearly stating why and how someone can loathe a country's regime without having nothing against the people living there, adding in the process why I personally find America snd China's regimes parallels, although ideologically opposite.

Again, you chose reiterating I am wrong in my views but without addressing a single point of it, except for making vague hollow observations that add nothing to the conversation, not adding counter points of information. Twice.

I've already deemed this a closed argument. I am doing it again. Be well, have a good one.

I don't wanna get in on the whole shouting match whether China bad or China good, but DicksAndPozza was pretty explicitly not talking about the regime, but the Chinese culture and people. Which is racist.

And what I read and understood was a loathing for the regime and social practices by it enacted onto the general populatio ln and not a generalized hatred towards the average individual. I also found there was an exageration to their words, although crude, but every person has their way to convey emotion.

There are better ways to confront people on their views than to start from insult.

Did my replies come out as shouting? Damn. Not what I intended.

This entire website is heavily propagandized about China I’ve noticed. It really sucks that you just can’t seem to have a normal conversation about China anywhere in the internet without propagandized freaks shouting at you that it the worst country that has ever existed

I disagree. China is a scary place with face recognition and all that shit. I wouldn’t ever travel there. If my job sent me there, I would rather quit than travel to china.

Fuck china. Also Chinese culture in general is pretty unappealing to me, who is used to a free life without all these stupid and arbitrary „rules“ like having to be married or else you’re worthless and all that crap.

I hate the whole thing, not just the government.

But please note that I do not blanket hate all Chinese people though.

A compact, deep-sea, cable-cutting device, capable of severing the world’s most fortified underwater communication or power lines, has been unveiled by China – and it could shake up global maritime power dynamics.

The revelation marks the first time any country has officially disclosed that it has such an asset, capable of disrupting critical undersea networks.

Coming soon to a vague shell corporation owned fishing boats to the shore of the Baltic and Northern seas!

                          Sponsored by China and Russia

If only cables can be designed to pull down ships that try to cut or anchor drag them. Maybe defensive cable around the main cable.

That's not how reality works... You can't make the cable pull down the ship. And even if you could they'd just lose the anchor

                                      Cool

So for every European deep sea cable cut it should send a fleet of Russian and Chinese ships to the bottom, torpedo the fuckers. Just by default presume it was either of them and make then responsible for the safety of our cables. If you fail to protect our cables, we'll send your ships to the next life.

                                      Gloves. Off.

I mean, no? Ok let's say you did cut off the internet, there's still radio. Shortwave still can reach spies in foreign countries with their numbers stations now, and then there's VHF/UHF at home etc. Snail mail still exists, so does ol' fashioned landlines for communication at least internally even if they cut undersea telcom cables, hell I'm pretty sure CDMA would still be running, this sets us back to like 1990 at most, especially if we take this threat seriously and start implementing non-internet based (or sat internet) fallbacks just in case standard comms go down for a while until a new cable can be lain.

Like don't get me wrong, we'd definitely feel the effects, but this isn't some kind of world dominating shit we're talking about here, it's just pretty inconvenient, especially if we already have alts in place as fallbacks so we don't have to scramble to set them up.

The knock on effects of substantial infrastructure interruptions like this can have massive impacts that snowball aggressively. Not saying you’re wrong, but it is nothing to scoff at. Things like this do have the potential to severely change the geopolitical landscape.
