A more realistic counter-proposal: Ukraine will negotiate a trade deal with China, because China is not under Putin's influence - on the contrary, Putin is heavily dependent on China and under their influence. At this point, they can tell him to stop. He's very low on reserves.

I think the "dying soon" bit was Zelensky trying to make him more paranoid. Putin seems fairly paranoid and Zelensky giving time predictions about his death will probably have effect on his peace of mind and diet.
