Reddit’s 50% Plunge Fails to Entice Dip Buyers as Growth Slows.

The gloomy sentiment around Reddit Inc. has failed to dissipate after its shares fell 50% from a February high, with volatile technology stocks under pressure.
I just don't understand why a person would choose to invest in Reddit. What exactly is the value proposition here?

Just avoid the political instances , especially ones of .ml
I use Boost and the topic keyword blocker works really well. I've got a lot of political words blacklisted and it's made browsing All much more pleasant.

Incels are quite overly sensitive when it's a women talking about violence against women by men, they brigade and try troll people. Askedddit also banned me, for because the sub was asking something about an actor, and I was explaining how a Star Trek actor made the show about herself( Beverly crusher) people don't like how their holy trek role model was criticized
Aren't those kinds of decisions made in the writers' room, though?

I'm talking the West that had Mussolini hanged upside down out on the public square once fascism was put to practice. The same west that had Hitler and his peers put a bullet to their heads, once their ideology was implemented.
Yes, these ideologies were invented in the West, doesn't mean we accept them wholeheartedly once they are implemented.
We'll see. I hope you're right. I'm just less optimistic.

Running the elevator on the Death Star, eh?
Whatever it takes for me to survive out here.

The other one is a manual labourer or simple job worker bubble - I see a lot more diversity there, many people falling for different kinds of propaganda, superstition, fearmongering. Some of those are already hardcore nazis, some of them are sympathizers in some ways.
That's fine, I'm not gonna disagree with this, however I don't see these people as a large, organized group that is bigger than the anti-Israel, anti-Russia status quo.
They usually get informations from the TV, newspapers and friends, partially online as well - mostly Facebook.
From TV, really? Maybe if you're talking about Fox News... That sort of TV doesn't exist in most European countries, Thankfully.
From the internet though yeah, i agree. But again, these aren't apolitical people at that point, if you're getting so involved in political discussions like that.
I'm from Europe. I don't know any completely apolitical people, really. Everyone has heard of some political topic and most of the topics make people feel strong emotions, based on which they form their opinions. In my country, the people from group 2 are not organized by themselves, but they are being successfully manipulated by rich populists. They are the majority and they are the group you need to win over to win any elections.

Fuck reddit , its becoming weird being on there ... its feels off , like you're in an uncanny valley not knowing if you are taljing to a bot , a person or a troll
Yes it's not a nice place right now but tye atmosphere is also a bit weird

I contributed to Reddit for 4 years and I got banned supposedly for posting putting down a bull terrier that violently attacked a family member and their was a child in the family,
I have a suspicion that my negative political comments about what is happening in Government may have been the real reason
All my friends that were on Reddit have been banned they are all good people with views
No free speech on Reddit it will gradually die
Genuine question but how can we trust our respective lemmy instance to not be as corrupt?
-
Good, hopefully spez will get what's coming to him. He really ran the site into the ground.
He will get a golden parachute if things get worst.
-
Yea, and can't be criticizing Nutrek
Shame, I have strong opinions around Discovery. Mostly because every episode is "fate of the universe" and character development arcs usually fizzle our with little actual change in the characters
-
What exactly is your critique? Do you think news aggregator style social media is an issue in general or is there something that lemmy just doesn't do good enough?
Social media is polarising. Lemmy, for example, and to a lesser extent Reddit, are left leaning. Xitter and Truth Social both very right leaning. Across all platforms voices to which do not conform to the status quo are either attacked or silenced. It's anonymous mob mentality. The human animal was not meant to communicate this way, it's not healthy, it just creates echo chambers on both sides, spreads misinformation, and is addictive.

I understand your fears, I really do.
Its just... I don't think we're totally lost yet, thank God. I'm hoping people keep being somewhat aware that fascism is not the way, even if it's being increasingly promoted on the internet.
Let us do our part as well. Keep boycotting the US, keep protesting against Israel and Russia in public. There is little else we can do, but these things are powerful on their own as long as we don't lose momentum.

They source the data for AI.
However, their owner is a duck so he's prob gonna atrophy users away, so it's not an investment you'd go long on.
I'm so glad it will create and burn ever since they prevented RIF from working for their own ad-ridden version to be used.

6 months after that, they still didn't have tablet support. Absolute bullshit.

No surprise; It's seemingly all bots arguing with other bots now anyway.

I mean, with all the censoring and pandering to Musk, allowing for entire bot swarms to the point it really becomes obvious it's happening - who could have predicted this?
That's right, kids. Allying yourself with fascist tendencies in any way, shape or form will hurt you in the long run. Just provide the damn service people are looking for and stop playing god, trying to use your platform to shape opinions and censor statements you or your buddies don't like.

Why are so many people here calling Spez "Spaz"? Isn't that considered to be a slur similarly to the r-word?
what's your point?

Fuck reddit , its becoming weird being on there ... its feels off , like you're in an uncanny valley not knowing if you are taljing to a bot , a person or a troll
I remember when Reddit threads would have 50000 plus comments on the regular that felt like real discussions where karma kept the assholes in control. The front page always felt full of new things and it felt democratic in a way. In recent years it feels empty, algorithmic, and just kind of sad. Reddit felt like a safe place even with some of the grimier subreddit becoming popular. Now it's just a oligarch pandering Nazi sympathizer platform. I was on there for 12 years and am happy I left it behind.
-
Dnc isn't on Reddit much, which is a separate issue the the GOP have successfully coopted all social media, thats why they are in power
Lmao you're willfully ignorant or a shill. DNC has been running propaganda for a decade now on Reddit. Shareblue is a thing.

her pitch was single droplet of blood to diagnosis diseases.
I’m aware. I’m also a medical lab scientist and the entire thing screamed bullshit from the start, not necessarily due to the feasibility of testing on small volumes, but things like calibration and quality control.
