I really hope that's the case. Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my GOAT games and FF 9 was great as well.

wrote on 15 Feb 2025, 11:22 last edited byI'm so torn on the subject of a VI remake. On the one hand, it tickles my brain to think of what it would be like if given the full treatment à la VII Remake, but on the other hand I consider the game pretty much perfect as-is and don't want it sullied.

I love FFT ad FFTA but come on, give us a new one sometime. We've had like 10 remakes and ports of FFT

FFIX is the best game in the franchise and I'll die on that hill.

wrote on 15 Feb 2025, 13:46 last edited byIt did. It's also on Switch and on Windows/Xbox as a Play Anywhere title on MS Store (buy once, get to play on both platforms). But from what I remember, FFIX was the one that needed the remaster treatment the least, as it plays fairly well on any emulator. FFVII and FFVIII, on the other hand, get more bearable with the built-in speed up button (which, yes, you can do on an emulator as well, but then the music gets sped up too and it gets annoying).

wrote on 15 Feb 2025, 13:48 last edited byTo be fair, Intergrade and Rebirth remix some things that mean they don't really replace the original game.
They're doing something different with the story that we still haven't had fully explained, which means I'm playing completely riveted to the story, with no idea what'll happen, even though the original game has existed longer than I have.
And the gameplay is obviously completely different.
It means they're more than "remakes", imo. They're more like adaptations, making changes that alter the source material to fit a new medium. Almost like going from book to TV.
And in the same way, both the "book" and the "TV Series" are both worth experiencing.

wrote on 15 Feb 2025, 13:56 last edited byWell ff9 was the last one on ps1 so that makes sense.
I loved ff8 my only issue was magic was never used since I kept buffing my stats with it. Plus sci-fi time travel plot probably confused general audience and ff9 is safer. Which is sad cause the plot is what I loved about it most.

Why remake perfection?
wrote on 15 Feb 2025, 13:57 last edited byExactly. 6, 8, and 10 are perfect the way they are and don't need any remaster nonsense.

I wish the Final Fantasy III 3D remake would be ported to consoles. I loved it on DS and always wanted to play it on a big screen. It came to phones, PSP, PC, and the Ouya of all things. So why the hell can’t I just play it on my Xbox? Sheesh.
(I actually considered getting an Ouya once just so I could play FF3 3D remake. Glad I didn’t.)

One of these days we'll get a remake. This will not be one of those days sadly
