The lawsuits are gonna make a lot of people rich, so long as it doesn't become a class action.

Even if it does, eligible parties are free to opt out of the class action and file their own individual suits.

In the USA, the regulations are made up and the points don't matter.

If Musk were, hypothetically, to give me a Cyber Truck, I'd let them make a big deal out of it. You know. Full stage, everything. Get in and drive off.

Only I'd put it into FSD mode and let it run him over on my way out.

Sounds like the road won't be the only thing Robotaxis will hit.

It's already dangerous enough walking or biking in my city with bad drivers.

I just want nice sidewalks, bike lanes, and good public transportation.

Can’t wait for one of these pieces of shit to hit me while I’m on campus. I already almost get hit at least once a day with how bad some people are at not stopping or checking.

The most aggravating part is that this egomaniac's bullshit is making the real autonomous vehicle market look bad.

Live in San Francisco and I am impressed with the Waymos. There's a lot of four way stops and lots of pedestrians. They honestly drive better than most people. There's a lot of times too where a car pulls up alongside another row of cars paralleled parked on the street and turns on their emergency lights to make a delivery or something. Waymos somehow check other side of the road and proceed around these cars going into the other side of the street safely.

I do check, but would you have guessed that this has been a problem in our community for a long time? To the point that actual riots have broken out over the dangers of crossing that street? No? Of course you wouldn’t because almost no one bothers with local history.

This person probably considers a car driving past as they wait to cross the street to be a near miss.

First iteration appear to be Tesla Model Ys. No word on additional sensors, so I am guessing the answer is no.

Like this has been a problem since at least the fucking 60’s, caused riots in the 70’s because of how dangerous it got. After the riots they dropped the speed limit and that made it better for a time. 3 years ago they had to install new systems at the crosswalks to flash blinking lights and to audibly tell drivers to stop because it was getting dangerous again.

Maybe just maybe I am not the asshole for expecting drivers to pay attention and respect the fact that they are driving through a university. Maybe just maybe they shouldn’t be driving through the university if they can’t be bothered to pay attention.

                                It looks like you're right.

An interesting point made in the article:

The NHTSA’s autonomous car regulators suffered layoffs after the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency cuts targeted that team, the Washington Post reported.

                                What could possibly go wrong?

The whole point of DOGE was to tear down any department that was blocking him from doing stupid shit or investigating the stupid shit he has already done. Meanwhile, getting work done in the government is a disaster now. I contract with the public sector, and don't get me wrong things have always been inefficient. Now that's cranked to 11. Everyone who knew what they were doing took the buyout and left.

What are the odds that fsd recognizes musks face and prioritizes his survival over yours? Swerve right into that nearby tree!

Reminds me of xitter changing its algorithm to boost musk’s tweets when he took over.

In my city, we've had Waymo running for quite awhile, and there were definitely growing pains, but it seems to be doing alright, with no incidents I'm aware of in recent months. Tesla has announced their imminent entry into our market, and not only is their technology just blatantly not ready for prime time, but their business model is broken, because my city tilts progressive by a significant margin, and everyone here hates Elon Musk. There was even a previously success Tesla-only ride share operation run by a 3rd party that recently went out of business here. Tesla as a cab service is totally fucked financially, is my point, in addition to just being totally fucked
