Besides two niche subreddits, I stopped using reddit. So it's 90% Lemmy. I don't use much else for social media except Something Awful and a heavily manually censored Discover tab on Bluesky because I'm sick of seeing Amercians crying and their politics. I wish we could region block entire countries on our personal social media accounts.

Anyways, the focus is reddit. I don't really miss it because I could see the rot with bots, alts, power mods, site leadership, vote manipulation, etc etc.

thier lack of moderation against the actual troublesome bots, ie russia, iran israel, palintir, instead they are going after people like us and the OF people, and the people spamming thier links for thier businesses. they may occasionally take out some prop bots as to pretend like they are actually doing something.

Is anyone here so hardcore that they don't even bother with mainstream social media? If its not on Lemmy or Mastodon it must not be important? Anyone that hardcore?

most of us are here, because we got permabanned on reddit early this year, or shadowbanned recently.

Doubt. A lot of us are here because of the API changes in July of 2023.

true, also the recent sudden increase was from the purges.

Was pro Palestine and critical of Israel, so they tried saying I was "promoting hate".

I was also telling people that we are going to have to start going outside the bounds of what is allowed by the current authority structures if we are going to have a chance at fighting for change; reminding people that the original labor movement worked because people stopped giving a shit about what the rule of law said was the "appropriate way to challenge the system" and instead occupied factories and local government offices for days on end to prevent them from doing anything other than listening to demands, the teamsters continued to make deliveries yet stopped accepting payment and tore up waybills to fuck the company over without allowing them to restrict access to goods, yadda yadda, etc...

So yea... Towards the end I was kinda giving up on subtlety and skirting the rules. Got my three strikes and was booted.

Haha, I pretty much did the same but only got a ban for 7 days xD

I'm also banned on many subs because I said a Tesla looks best when there is flames inside, which they say is promoting violence...

            It's a freaking car...

Lemmy only. I quit Reddit when the third party apps fell.

I do miss some of the niche hobby subreddits, but fuck Spez. If I need to find some info, I can access it via search engines.

Otherwise I'm perfectly happy with Lemmy, people are generally much nicer and there's more than enough content. Reddit was so overbloated that this smaller universe is quite enough for me.

Tbh I still use reddit like a little whore because there's a number of workarounds if you're willing to make your own dev key or whatever.

I never go to Reddit anymore after moving to Lemmy, but I do sometimes end up on a Reddit post it's a relevant search result.

Oh I got a 7 day ban. Three times cause I don't know when to quit.

And yea I fucking hate. It's cause, technically, property damage is "violent" by the definition.
Yet, it's fucking stupid to equivocate damage to inanimate object to damage to a living being.

After reddit apps were killed, using reddit became a chore.
I can now only use reddit in Firefox mobile or desktop and its not super polished for mobile.

Lemmy boost app is much more polished so I naturally gravitate to it over reddit. Also creating new accounts after bans is A lot easier

I am going to make a more concerted effort to use Lemmy more than Reddit moving forward. I just wish it had more info over here. I think from now on if I cannot find the info that I seek on Lemmy, I will find some sources on Reddit and then maybe pay it forward via sharing my findings on Lemmy. That's at least what I'm going to try and do for a while and see if I can help make a difference.

Banned from a sub Reddit, but you wouldn't be banned from Reddit site wide - unless you off the scale heinous.

As much as I dislike Reddit's direction and have had site wide temporary bans myself, i find it hard to believe you were properly banned for what you described. I was temporary banned because I was flaunting that I wasn't abiding by Reddit's rules, and even then, it was only a 2 week ban on a single account.
