Both Superman and Fantastic Four were massively better than I expected them to be. I think both just focused on the fun rather than trying to be more than they were and that helped a ton.

I think both ideas can be true : these films are (probably) slop, and scorsese is a joyless curmudgeon who also enjoyed his fair share of slop back in the day but forgot that he liked it.

Pshh, like I’d let the director of Boxcar Bertha tell me what to watch.

I mean, they are not high brow art films by any means, but I wouldn't classify them as slop. They are just fun comic book movies with an emphasis on the fun part. Which to me is the more important part of a comic book movie.

what would you classify as slop? If the same thing was generated by AI, would you call it slop?

No? But I guess you must have some fine art appreciation that us meer normie can't comprehend with our simplistic comic book movies.

Slop is such a stupidly overused term now that seems to have evolved from describing something that is an obvious mess to just being thrown out as for anything the writer doesn't like.

If you have a problem with the films, state those problems in clear articulated points, otherwise you are nothing more than a troll throwing out hate for something just hate it.

                  Ok, great. No further notes.

Yeah, I'm sick of the way anything that comes out of a computer is labelled as slop, no matter how much thought went into it, so I'm starting to call anything that's made as a product that might have been something better slop. IE : pop music was made about as mechanically and with as much soul as someone putting "make a top 40 song" into an AI, so I might as well call that slop if someone calls things like dadabots that have shitloads of effort poured into it, or use AI in novel and unexpected ways to get emergent behaviours.

People definitely forget that there's low art that is not slop.

                          but he wasn't wrong.

super hero movies feel cheap and played out these days.

I want original stories with good character development around a relatable plot.

Scorcese made some petty disparaging comments about what is and isn't real art or cinema back when Marvel was at the top of the game with multiple billion dollar movies in a row.

"Good" is a pretty subjective term, especially in this context, but I would agree to the point that the amount of money made is not the best metric of a "good" movie. Anyway, Scorsese is pretty easy to ignore as we all go on with our lives, and I hope he doesn't take away from anyone's enjoyment of whatever movies they want to watch.
