Taxes are directly on the people. US tech won't really care. They'll just point and say "Hey it's not us that's your own government!"
Not sure if there is a such a thing as a digital tariff since it's not a physical import...

For example, in the Southeast, Greece and Cyprus are trying their best to hedge against Trump's best-dictator-buddies attitude with Erdogan. They are both regularly bullied by the Turkish military and half of Cyprus remains occupied by the Turkish army. For both of them, staying on the "good boy" list of the US is a matter of survival. Meanwhile, everyone else is squarely focused on Russia and placating Turkey, when Cyprus is already living the post-apocalypse of their defeat at the hands of a Turkish "special military operation".

So unfortunate. Humanity has so much more potential than just monetization but the US is a lost cause for that at the moment. If other sane countries would stand up together it would make it easier for the "endangered" countries to see who really cares for them.

Trump is sending Kimberly Guilfoyle as ambassador to Greece and her confirmation hearing has received a lot of attention in Greece. It seems both Ds and Rs are interested in helping the "loyal ally" stay balanced. In other words, so long as Greece plays the good boy doggo and keeps paying for US weapons, the US has an interest in maintaining the stupid status quo.
The only way out would be if our European partners took Greek and Cypriot defense and national interests as seriously as they take those of, say, the Baltics.

It seems both Ds and Rs are interested in helping the "loyal ally" stay balanced. In other words, so long as Greece plays the good boy doggo and keeps paying for US weapons, the US has an interest in maintaining the stupid status quo.
The only way out would be if our European partners took Greek and Cypriot defense and national interests as seriously as they take those of, say, the Baltics.
I guess I was more thinking in a "boots on the ground" way. We don't have a problem pouring money into the wrong causes but he does seem to be unwilling to commit US troops. I'm sure he'll keep placating the bootlickers in some way of his own choosing.

How does for instance google having to pay a tax on their ad revenue in France make the french google users pay?
Why is it that these companies are so fiercely opposed to taxation?
