Anyone else from Europe feels the same while browsing the "All" feed?
-
@[email protected] [email protected] I'm Brazilian and oftentimes the "All" feed across the entire Lemmy ecosystem feels, in fact, like a smoothie mashup between European-specific political issues and USian-specific political issues, so, when it comes to the phenomenon that the European Fedizens feel on Lemmy, not only we feel the same, but we, Fedizens from the Global South, we feel it twice!
At least when it comes to sport, we speak one language

I've blocked quite a few very popular communities because I don't understand their language. I'm guessing they're still popular? Europe as a whole, seems to be quite popular (or it was, I've blocked them).

IDK, I never browse All, basically. Funny meme, tho.

USA is the world.
wrote last edited by [email protected]Thankfully not, but it is an unfortunately large part of the world

Sorry, I don't go to feddit.org due to their censorship of Israel-critical posts. Due to moral reasons I cannot accept (though I understand) this despite being a legal requirement.
wrote last edited by [email protected]If I just have a quick look at !Europe and its recent top post, first thing I see is this and in the comments a banned user, who says recognizing Palestine as a state would be like giving the Hamas a win. So I don't see much censorship of Israel-critical posts there. E: I'm afraid blocking this only leads to damaging discussions by not even joining them at the first place, because now there just are fewer people who actually want to discuss something instead of just wanting to troll.

I think they talk about the USA even more over on ML tbh, but with a difference in connotations.

A sizeable portion of it, at the very least.
a whopping 4% by population and 1.8% by area. so, not really

I've done the same with anything sports. if it's sports related, it's blocked and the one who posted it blocked as well. I want nothing to do with it.
starting to also consider anything us related too.
other languages are fine for me, I just skip past em.

Isn't LW Dutch?
And if we're just talking about All, mine seems to be predominantly porn and Germans
Which is frankly, a pretty European combo

Increase your population, elect the worst leaders, ditch universal healthcare and other social supports, and your country can contest the US in potential topics for the All feed!

You can also filter out keywords like Trump, Elon, GOP, etc. Generally this excludes shit from their little tribal conflict but retains post that could be of interest.

The most important part though.

I'm not European but I am Canadian and I don't know if Americans realise how annoying it is that any general community like "politics" or "news" is specifically American as per the rules. I was really hoping we'd leave the US defaultism behind on Reddit

I am enjoying the riceballs much more than the Presidential idiocy randomiser.
