If machines run everything and get out of control, the last weapon we have is electromagnetic bombs to fry it all.

But if we do that… we’re back to square one. Are we going to take this route? Should every AI plant have one sitting there like a fire extinguisher?

I kind of doubt we'll find ourselves in a Terminator situation

You’ve been watching too many movies.

EMPs don’t work the way Hollywood thinks they do.

We can’t create non destructive ones, or at least of any significant size. For that, they require a nuclear blast as the source.

I agree but we need some safeguards

The current 'AI' isn't really capable of any form of thinking though. All it does is predict the next most likely token based on its training.

If we ever manage to get something close to real AGI, then I guess it is able to easily spread through the web anyways and lie dormant in any form of storage for years to come. So even we think we've wiped them out so to say, they can return whenever they want to.

But this is quite a far fetched reality.

              I'm talking smaller scale EMPs

Yes I know. And they don’t exist.

Yep. Check out the ‘fuckai’ community for information on just exactly how far-fetched this scenario is.

I believe they are called high-power microwave (HPM) systems. I guess not the same thing tho.
