Can't believe there are idiots that still deny climate change. Here in the MENA it's been brutal, frequent droughts, dangerous air quality and insane levels of heat in summer (and average days too, but it's only 33 celsius right now so not too bad). 1,300 people died last year in my city alone

But yeah... climate change is a hoax. 🙄

Can’t believe there are idiots that still deny climate change.

Yep. The signs are all around us, even in Northern Europe. Not so far north that melting glaciers are a thing, but shorter and warmer winters, earlier spring, burnt grass in summer (this has never been a thing in Finland), disruption of long-standing weather patterns...

Most "sensible" deniers nowadays claim it's not human made. For them I always keep this xkcd handy.

I've had 33 degree summers in Lithuania and they were absolutely brutal.

I've gotten used to 30+ degree weathers, but i'm especially concerned for the coming summer/next years.

No problemo - let's us just ban reports on this while increasing fossil fuels consumption and eating more meat. There, problem solved.

We had 2 snowfalls this winter here in Austria and summer regularly hits 30+ for multiple weeks. No snow = no melting water reservoir... Yet our people vote for a Partie that still calls it a hoax. We're so fucked.

Electric vehicles + public transport should be encouraged way more. What's the replacement for planes tho?

                  Night Trains for European Routes.

Most flights aren't long distance, but "I want to get wasted 1000kms away on a 30€ easyJet Fare with the boys"

I'm not european and it's pretty unheard of to use trains to reach other gulf states (like kuwait, UAE oman etc) but it makes sense.

What about travelling to other continents? I'd assume there's no alternative to that.

And the most common sentiment about climate change right now among KTU civil engineer students is "oh stop shoving this climate bullshit down our throats" and it isn't even exclusive to the fucking students.

Makes me mad listening to it.

We should focus on reducing the emissions we can easily reduce right now. As I've said, intercontinental travel is not a huge part of plane travel/emissions in Europe.

I guess it's similar to the situation in Germany, though a few years further in the development.

Right wing populism, lack of political education, populist media outlets, centre politicians adopting right wing policies in an ill-fated attempt to get their voters back, a population generally dissatisfied with the establishment due to the consequences of neoliberalism, etc.

I saw this series last year called Extrapolations, and even though the story itself wasn't necessarily that good I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to see how the future might look. I've read a lot about rising temperatures and extreme weather but this show really helped me visualise how those things might impact me and the generations after me. It's not a disaster movie like The Day After Tomorrow or 2012 where everything goes wrong all of a sudden, but rather a set of stories where things gradually get worse. Hopefully they will never get as bad as in the last few episodes but I believe the whole thing is backed by science and shows things that will actually happen if we do not do enough about climate change.
