The bullet engravings as per WSJ

Because it's not a studio-shot real bullet casing, it's an artistic render of how it looked
wrote last edited by [email protected]It's wild how many comments here think this is the actual photo of the actual shell casing... It's clearly fake

edit: This is my collage, it's not serious. WSJ, as they say, got misleading reportings about something carved on the bullets refering to 'trans and antifa ideology' and later retracted it, probably it was designed this way to launch the scare wave and support nazi claims. Under articles discussing that, I saw a lot of jokes about 'uwu' being written on the casing, so I created this meme and posted it in c/lemmyshitpost ironizing over dumb misinfo without even thinking someone would think it's real.
Lot of people writing on bullets these days. Must be a pretty big bullet to even fit the word "transgender" on it, let alone his whole manifesto.

I thought it was a MAGA guy that shot him?
(I mean when misinformation spreads like wildfire, why not rebalance things a bit)
No it was Kirk's estranged gay lover.

Ham? What kind of message is that?

Lol, wow, the casing was still smoking when they found it and took the picture? even though it was still chambered? And it was a different caliber than what's pictured? Also how did they fire an AI generated image out of a real rifle? So many questions...

Hasan isn't a tankie...
I honestly don't know almost anything about Hasan, but I know a lot of people in chapo chat like him. I think?

Big thread on this here:
-
Was going to say, weren't they claiming the round was from a 30.06? It should be necked and considerably longer.
This is turning into a worse frame up job than Luigi. Does the DoJ just tell local authorities to find a scapegoat if the shooter can't be found in 12-24 hours?
wrote last edited by [email protected]I have been over in another thread trying to figure this out.
::: spoiler putting this all in spoiler tags to not blow up the formatting of the thread
What was originally claimed was 'an older 30.06 Mauser', but that seems unlikely, primarily because almost no Mausers, K98k's, are chambered in 30.06, they're almost all in 7.92x57mm, which is not a 30.06, that'd be 7.62x63mm in metric.
Also... yeah, it does seem like an actual 30.06, at that range of approximately 150 to 200 yards/meters... would have made a lot bigger of a hole, entry and exit wound.... more like just a good chunk of his whole neck blasted off/apart, than the hole that we saw.
Uh, finally... this is the image from the New York Post going around that apparently is the weapon.
This (in my semi informed, and based off a low quality image, opinion) is not an older Mauser.
It is probably a Remington 700, or Ruger American, probably from roughly the 90s or 00's, probably in .270 or .243 or something like that.
Basically, this looks like a roughly 20 to 30 yo, extremely common, bolt action deer hunting rifle in the US.
Let me try to figure out how to link to my own comment in another thread.

It is looking to me like uh, what a surprise, initial reports are sloppy, vague and innacurate, great job Kash Patel on not having an actual suspect within 24 hrs, I guess tweeting that you've apprehended the suspect (who was actually the wrong guy) was more important.
Oh god this is all so very, very stupid.
This is not even a frame up job at this point, this is pure fucking chaos, everyone, including the head of the FBI, seem to be more or less just be making shit up and running with whatever their gut instinct is, or first thing they heard from some guy.

Hi friend, you're gonna wanna edit an exclaimation point (!) In front of your square brackets there so your image loads inline instead of having a hyperlink with no text

Cats love ham?

Yeah at this point ... this is probably not a good idea.
Further: That's a casing from a pistol round, probably 9mm, not a necked casing from a hunting rifle.
Apparently, the entire 'trans ideology on the casings' thing ... came from our favorite divorced domestic abuser Steven Crowder, who claims that basically just someone in the ATF just sent either their own opinion or a prelim. analysis to him.
Then, as best I can tell... the WSJ just ran with that, and then everyone else did.
Then the NYT appears to have actually attempted to do journalism, reached out to the ATF for comment/verification, and they basically said 'wtf no, that document is preliminary at best and should not be seen as accurate'... which to me implies they couldn't even be 100% certain as to what specific document Crowder / WSJ was even referring to.
So... hooray journalism I guess, basically everything is a wildly irresponsible gossip rag right now.
EDIT:
::: spoiler Handy dandy idiots guide to bullet cartridge calibers and casings, if anyone cares.
Your modern rifle rounds are generally gonna be necked like the .223/5.56, generally taller, generally larger bullets.
bullet = part that hits thing you are aiming at, ideally.
casing = part that holds gunpowder, has primer, gets hit by firing pin, must be cleared from the chamber before next shot.
cartridge/round = the whole package, all together.
There are still some non necked, straight cased rounds like the 30 30, still somewhat common in lever action ("cowboy repeater") type rifles/carbines.
There are also some smaller rounds that are necked, basically tiny, scaled down rifle style rounds, that are geared toward varmint hunting, or a personal defense context, via moving a smaller and lighter bullet faster, with relatively more gunpowder behind it.... used variously in more niche pistols, rifles, pdws, carbines.
5.7 x 28mm (the 5-7 / P90), 4.6 x 30mm (the MP7), .17 HMR (decent array of varmint rifles), etc.

Seriously, what is that supposed to be on it? And what is it supposed to mean?
I know it isn't real, but what were they going for? -

That would be unimaginably ironic.
I'm not even a mod ... or anything like that.
I am gonna say that I really hope your online profile cannot be easily tied back to your actual identity... by either random people with a vendetta... and/or possibly any information within the purview of being obtained by some kind of warrant (or DOGE style break-in) from the US government, or maybe by being leaked from some kind of right wing person that works for an ISP. Or VPN!
Things are looking awfully dicey right now.
The entire problem with a bunch of very, very angry and distraught people, is that they tend to believe whatever the fuck they want to, to justify and amplify their anger.
After all, in a highly emotional state, one's feelings do not really rationally consider or evaluate any kind of facts.
And, I guess you could say that I am deadly serious about that.

in case you are unaware

this exists.
So... yeah.
Looks to me they are building a sort of Purge / 'day of the rope' type hitlist.

One engraving read 'Hey Fascists, Catch!' - next to an up arrow symbol, right arrow symbol and three down arrow symbols - and another read 'If You Read This You Are Gay LMAO', Cox said.
