Sure, if you're a politically illiterate who gets their ideology from Marvel movies and thinks "fascist" just means "bad guy"
It's no surprise actual fascists are so easily taking over right under liberals noses, when liberals have been so fanaticaly insistent on refusing to actually develop any real understanding about what fascism actually is, because then they would have to admit that Marxists aren't fascists. They wouldn't even have to admit Marxists aren't bad, just that they are a different thing to fascists. But even that is too much.

This is all .world liberals seem to have: just screaming "No! Be quiet! Fuck you!"
I feel like liberals have gotten to never actually having to content with other ideologies because they're used to their security forces simply destroying them.
And then they wonder how fascists are taking over...

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."
