The equivalent to a Reddit "sub" is a Threadiverse "community" (Threadiverse or Forumverse, or maybe just Verse now?, anyway meaning the subset of the wider Fediverse, so like the latter includes Mastodon but the former is only the community-based Lemmy, Mbin, and PieFed).

The anarchy & communism instances are slrpnk.net and lemmy.dbzer0.com. Beware the fake communism, "tankie" triad of hexbear.net (or wherever they moved to, after they forgot to renew their own domain name), lemmygrad.ml, and lemmy.ml. Actually the former 2 should be defederated from you on Lemmy.world already, while the latter is sometimes okay, yet also batshit insane at the same time. You'll see... and if you ever forget to follow one of their entirely unwritten rules (not kidding), you'll be banned from every community on the entire instance, including those you've never even heard of.

        Happy explorations!:-)

they managed to keep the domain in the end, I think they transferred to a different DNS landlord

Also it's not fake communism, it's pretty normal for anyone outside of terminally online circles, like I'm active in anarchist organizing and I've had plenty of comrades who would get called a tankie by you lot like it's some thoughtcrime

Like any country there are good and bad areas.

In England. never, ever, go to Slough.

          You seen deliverance?

I'm against the death penalty in all cases. But if the law of the country admits the killing of someone for killing people is a little cynical to blame someone for doing exactly the same the government does.

Welcome! We've got memes on deck at [email protected] and if you're a programmer of some kinds we got [email protected] to scratch that itch and be sure to drop a shit(post) off at [email protected] or if you want SCIENCE and memes head over to the wonderful [email protected] or if you just want regular SCIENCE mander.xyz is full of sciency comms like [email protected] and [email protected]. [email protected] is also nice this time of year, but you'll have to post before you can leave.

We're not without our cons though, biggest problem we have are probably the Tankies (Authoritarian "communists" who will overlook any wrong doings of China, Russia, NK because they think their governments are the "gold standard"), but here they're mostly on the Tankie Triad lemmy.ml, lemmygrad and hexbear. You have a .ee account and they do federate with .ml and lemmygrad but not hex iirc, but on Lemmy you can do a personal instance wide block if you'd rather just not deal with them. If you want to see what they get up to from a safe distance check [email protected]

That would be great! Avoidance of not just leftists but extremists of any persuasion is the chief reason cited by so very many people for refusing to come over to Lemmy. Which by turning away content creators, leaves Lemmy stagnanting.

Nobody wants this place to turn into a safe haven for the Alt-Right, yet for some reason so many people do not bat an eye at what I've started calling the Alt-Left here.

It really would be great though to be able to check in on politics as needed, but then for one brief period even if only for ten damn minutes be able to turn all of that OFF!:-) Which I can on PieFed, but I see so many people on Lemmy begging for that, not knowing how to accomplish that (bc on Lemmy, you can't, and even on PieFed - well... look at this very post here, no separator is ever going to be perfect:-).

Tbf, from the perspective of someone who is THAT far left, I'm sure it does sorta all blend in to look the same:-). Even so, that is no excuse to remain in willfull ignorance. I don't have to agree with any particular position to understand it, nor to respect either it or the people who believe in it (especially if their set of facts differ from mine - not everyone has the luxury of sorting all of that out, at any age and social status and time period in their personal life).

I've flat given up posting content such as Fareed Zakaria, and barely bother to post highly leftist but somehow still not leftist enough content such as Innuendo Studios' The Alt Right Playbook.

Seems like a safe haven for the extreme leftists who trespassed, vandalized, and stole various things off my neighbor's yards this last election season. The left are 100% fully unhinged now and will commit assault, and many other crimes simultaneously like a child throwing a temper tantrum, except they are more dangerous than a child. It's unfortunate to witness in my own community. But this is where the leftist extremists tend to huddle together it seems.

Part of the problem is many of the users just don't get jokes.

You can post something that is blatant, obvious satire, and no matter how obvious or ridiculous, someone will argue about it.

Much of the userbase is fundamentally unable to understand humour.

Or they upvote anything that aligns with their political views, regardless of quality, see the posts of Pizzacake comics as an example.

Being early adopters many people here are tech or autistic people. There are also a lot of conscientious people who left Reddit, so many people tend to be more introverted and reflective.

I think voters started being counted a while back? I'll see if I can find the release notes.

Edit: there we go, from the docs.

An active user is someone who has posted, commented, or voted on our instance or community within the last given time frame.

                                  ohh okay I see..

Though I think there are probably people who only lurk (not even a vote) like me on reddit, but that's probably less people, since unlike reddit, where it's very searchable (through search engines, I mean) so you have to access it for some use case.

                                      I explained a bit here: https://lemm.ee/post/58018253/18825295

But I'll go into more detail : )

lemmy.ml is the instance run by the lemmy developers, who are tankies. Tankies are people who support authoritarian regeims such as the soviet union, or north korea.

As such, they sometimes remove anti-china or pro-ukraine posts/comments.

                                      They also sometimes bridgade threads.

As an example, check [email protected]

Sometimes I wish we could give app names aliases or suffixes something. Would be helpful when some apps have identical names, like "Weather".
