    Summary

JD Vance criticized Denmark for failing to protect Greenland from Russian and Chinese incursions during a visit to the U.S. military base in Pituffik.

While pledging respect for Greenland's sovereignty, Vance announced increased U.S. naval presence without expanding ground forces.

Trump echoed the need for Greenland’s strategic importance to global security.

Greenland’s new prime minister condemned the visit as disrespectful, and public protests opposed U.S. influence. Trump’s administration continues to push for stronger U.S. involvement in the mineral-rich Arctic region.

I have to apologize. Venting is one thing, but I don't think I really have an excuse for that, so I'm going to leave it there and maybe I'll learn something. Having said that, the position this has put me in has been a nightmare to say the least. And I know I'm not the only one. The shit I've had to do in the last month alone to prepare for possible shtf is insane, and it's far from over. If it was just me alone, I'd be ok, but it's not. Just fuck. Sorry.

No worries, I get it. This shit is terrible, and while its not all Americans, its embarrassing how many of us are for the craziness. I always knew I was surrounded by dumbasses but holy shit, its way worse than I ever expected.

Denmark has not kept pace and devoted the resources necessary to keep this base, to keep our troops, and in my view, to keep the people of Greenland safe from a lot of very aggressive incursions from Russia, from China and other nations," Vance said. He gave no details of the alleged incursions.
The U.S. vice president said Russia, China and other nations are taking an "extraordinary interest" in Arctic passageways, naval routes and minerals in the region and the U.S. will invest more resources, including naval ships and military icebreakers that will have a greater presence in the country.

It sounds like there is one one group doing more aggressive incursions.

Wait, it's Denmarks responsibilty to keep american troops safe in their own bases? If you don't feel safe, then what about fucking off?

They paid almost 3 percent and now are upping it TO 3 percent of their total gdp on defense. They are in line with it.

Vance and trump are so ego based and dumb af.

Considering that the "old" benchmark was 2%... They didn't even make that number for years. Only stepping up and consistently paying when Russia actually started their invasion. And even then they are rapidly regressing back to the 2% number.

The only country threatening Greenland is his country.

I live there and basically... Yeah. I mean, it feels like we are on a direct course for implosion.

Sorry the rest of you have to deal with our bullshit.

It would be cool if you and your fellow citizens (millions of you, not just the handful who have been shouting into the wind so far) got together and did something to prevent that implosion.

It should also be embarrassing how few of you are actively fighting back against the collapse of your own country.

Those few hundred person protests? They should be millions. And they shoukd be constant.

That's the only way you'll reclaim your country from the fascists who are taking it over and destroying ~250 years of progress.

In the middle? Have you ever seen a globe? They would go across the Arctic.

That's why there are American airbases and NATO radar stations up there.

the problem with the fascists’ imperialist ideas of conquest is that they are all based on kernels of truth, it’s how they appeal to their base.

attack them there, not in the space of rational discourse in which they are advantaged. they hold no respect for reality or the truth.

Russia is a to Greenland threat = true

Leaving Denmark weakens Greenland’s security though

So the idea that leaving would make them more secure is false

                                      sure.

greenland is historically and definitely a part of denmark. then again, the sudetenland was definitely a part of bohemia.

the united states is in a position to undertake an imperial conquest. i won’t claim any veracity for how long they might be able to hold on to any gains made, but they can make gains. i see a lot of people who live in places that are in the warpath of the trump party wanting to reject this idea online, sometimes out of ignorance, sometimes out of pride, sometimes for other reasons. the fact of the matter is that what the neofascist movement has been able to wrestle control of is the single largest, deadliest, and most effective military in the history of the earth. this isn’t american nationalism, it’s a rational analysis of the situation. the only other power on earth of any similar degree is china. china has essentially engaged in a neocolonial economic conquest of africa over the course of the 21st century, reasserting historical norms of chinese preeminence over global affairs. do you really think they will be any better than the americans? no. they seek blood and iron as well.

europe is not in a position to defend itself from america right now. i hope europeans realize this and vote in their own best interest to readily establish a pan european army as soon as possible. i know this is a controversial subject over there. but, this is the reality we live in.

No. I'm telling you that "They paid almost 3 percent" is bullshit. I'm telling you that you're lying. I make no claim for anything else other than you're full of shit. You're making shit up to complain about "orange man" and not looking at what's actually made them pay. Which was Russian aggression.

And no, you can't just take the average when there's a clear pivot point of an event. Someone had to make up the shortfall in the pre-Russian invasion time-frame. That wasn't just free. They were average 1.6% in the 6 years prior to Russian invasion of Ukraine. Well below the benchmark.

But wait! Turns out I copied and pasted the wrong table... I grabbed it from a page down because I was an idiot and scrolled too far!

                                        Here's the real data..
                                        Denmark 1.15 1.11 1.15 1.14 1.28 1.30 1.38 1.30 1.37 2.01 2.37

1.556% as an average... with pre-invasion looking closer to 1.2%

So even now they don't hit the benchmark even after Russian invasion. So not only are you really full of shit, but you're SUPER full of shit. They've never paid anything close to 3%. Let alone actually maintaining their 2%.
