A foot patrol of the French unit operating within the UNIFIL reserve force came under fire from an Israeli army position while inspecting an earth barrier recently erected by Israeli forces in the Wadi Qatmoun area, on the outskirts of the Lebanese town of Rmeish, according to the National News Agency (NNA).
I wish they'd just return fire for once.

IDF would shit their pants if they had to face actual modern warfighters. Basically all of their victories are against malfunctional ME militaries and irregular fighters, to say nothing about the base atrocities they are committing against defenseless people.
Exactly, this is something lost in propagandizing this as a war and not a genocide, the IDF does not know how to fight a combined arms conflict at any infantry level, they have just been practicing genocide which I would imagine among other things makes you poorly mentally equipped with no mental plasticity to handle the speed and lethality of a motivated, near-peer military that isn't already conveniently contained within an open air prison.
This is going to end very badly for jews and people in general living in Israel, which among other reasons (obviously) is why the Palestinian Genocide is catastrophic.

It is getting painfully obvious they only exist to surpress armed resistance against the occupied.

Because hospitals keep Palestinians alive and schools teach Palestinians about the crimes against humanity Israel has been committing for almost 80 years.
Also, they generally want to destroy everything resembling Palestinian societal infrastructure and culture, so such vital institutions are amongst their favorite targets.

Ya, they also have a massive wall and complex defense systems to take down missile. There is literally no threat. It's almost like it's just an excuse to kill civilians.

Simply because they know it's not something they could get away with. They're smart enough though to have people like you believe that's not what they want, I'll give'em that. What they're after is what they think they can achieve, which is to ethnically cleanse Gaza and the West Bank altogether and push the Palestinians out, and they're using what hamas did and whatever lies they spiced up on October 7th as an excuse. The world is watching, and that's the only thing stopping them from doing what they had done many times back when technology wasn't there to show their horrific crimes over the past 80 years..

They aren't good guys, but Israel is literally evil when they murder the innocents when there is no justifiable threat. I don't know what indoctrination convinced you that tens of thousands of innocent civilians is a justifiable cost. None of this defendable.

Resistance fighters aren't hiding behind hostages, that's unchecked libel. The IDF is bombing schools and hospitals because they're carrying out a genocide.
