Thoughts on Mario Kart World

I don't see the appeal beyond for children.
Nintendo increasingly reminds me of Disney, pulling out the same old tired franchises for increasingly cynical cash grabs that prey on people's nostalgia.
"for all ages" and "for kids" are two different things

While I am personally excited for a new Mario Kart after 10ish years, I am slightly skeptical of the quality of the gameplay, as it seems a little cartoony, a little bit like Super Mario Strikers, where the game is fun for like 2 weeks then no one plays it ever again. What do y'all think?
I'm not big on the idea of open world racing. Too me, driving between race tracks feels like a chore.
I've seen other racers do it, but I've never really delved into a game like that. Maybe once I do I'll really like it.
I do think grinding rails and wall jumping around looks pretty fun in MK. But it could end up gimmicky and unexicitng once you're used to.
Basically all a big 'wait and see' from my perspective.

Driving to tracks is 100% a chore. It's made me not enjoy any new racing game in the last 5 years.
I really hope this game has an option to skip that and jump right into a race.
I don't look forward to wrangling my family to drive to the same track just to start a race. I'm sure at least one of my kids would drive in the opposite direction because they think it's funny. -
i'm pretty excited. i was disappointed by 8 and disapointed even more when we got it again on Switch instead of a new installment, with . one of the main things that bugged me was the kart customization that felt more like picking nerfs than buffs. having that eliminated alone makes the game 10x more appealing, and then this new rally mode seals the deal for me
...aside from the price like everyone else is saying. i'll gladly get it used, but if we all wait for it to go on sale used, there won't be any used copies to buy used! the comments in the gameplay streams nintendo did today where flooded with demands to drop the prices so i think everyone is on the same page. it'll be interesting to see in the coming months if nintendo budges

As a Forza Horizon fan my curiosity is piqued. I like being able to shift vibes from an intense race to just cruising around the landscape, and Mario Kart is a very different style of racing so it'd be a very different experience

Agree 100%. From the trailer, at least, it looks like there's a separate "Free Roam" mode, and it will otherwise be normal Mario Kart. Also looks like they'll maybe have races that will span multiple tracks, which I can see being cool.

Looks like they had to do something different than Mario Kart 8 and they did. The game looks interesting.
If isn't interesting enough to buy, but then I figured I might sit this generation out.

Looks like some of the biggest changes the series has ever seen. I'm excited for it, but like many others, not excited enough for the price they are asking right now.
Then don't buy it. Buying it tells them it's ok to keep raising prices.

It seems interesting but Sonic Crosswolds seems even better

The price is too high. They are going to sell skins and characters. The game is going to be fluffed with open world sections instead of actual content. I probably won’t enjoy it.
My kids will though

I'm pretty excited for it I enjoy Mario Kart games,I don't play/like any other type of racing games so being able to drive to the next course is new to me and looks kinda fun.

I personally can't wait. I have an OLED and MK8D but just didn't play it enough due to life getting in the way. This has me beyond excited to play it. It'll be nice to get into a game with my fiance from the start especially because she plays basically only animal crossing.

You can't expect prices to never increase. That's not realistic. It sounds like small budget or free games are more your speed.
You Nintendo shills are hilarious. Have fun shelling out premium prices for out of date tech.

Lol! I'm not a Nintendo shill. I rarely play Nintendo. Priorities change in life and that means sometimes changing up how you do things. The Switch 2 fits into my family picture.
It just sounds like you're a broke little boy that can't afford to play video games anymore. You could always save for a few months. Maybe find a better job that pays more? Be better professionally.

I think it’s cool. Just another Mario kart game. Updated graphics and world exploring is neat. I would be loving this game if I was 10. In my thirties? Nah. $$$
