I'm going to need to see the Democratic party do something before I donate another cent.

I agree that the incessant fundraising texts are annoying, but you should consider learning more about Ro Khanna. He’s the leader of the progressive caucus in the house, and often the only one in committee to vote against things like increasing defense spending, etc.

How utterly performative of him. Brave brave Ro Khanna, the leader who can garner no real support! Woe is Ro! Please send $85 now to help FIGHT the injustice of Donald Trump

One $5 donation buys you a decade of nagging donation emails and a bunch of capitulating spineless politicians.

My inbox is already full of nagging emails about donations since donating to wikipedia. Don't need a second firehose.

I usually ignore these texts, but recently I couldn’t stop myself.

1,275 is such an odd number. I wonder why they did that one specifically

One of the biggest red flags that you might be getting conned is when they try to rush your decision. “It’s an emergency, your grandson is in jail and needs $500 to get bailed out, no you can’t hang up to call him, we need it now or he gets put in a cell with Rapist Bob.”

Not saying this is a scam, just saying the tactic feels predatory. Do better, dems.

It’s for sure a scam and nothing you said was wrong

I know it’s most likely going into a void, but I’ve also worked in a call center that sent out automated texts. I wouldn’t bet on someone seeing the response, but I know it’s possible.

The grossest thing was the day Roe got over turned I got emails from 10 different Democrats looking for donations to help fight it.

The grossest thing is that's pretty much all they did.

I hate how everyone follows the social marketing playbook now. There's so little community building and genuine connection with constituents. Everything is optimized by some social media marketing guru types with a masters degree in being an asshole.

Yeah, please just talk to me like a person instead of advertising at me. Manipulation may work, but it’s not the kind of interaction I want to have with my representatives.

It pisses me off when they run some "get a free x" with donation that they alert me about just after i already donated for fucking bubkiss.

They do it very often too.

I can't donate to them anymore after 2024. Like they had a billion dollars in donor money and they lost badly. I don't even know WTF they used the money for.

I donate quite a bit and I've only found AOC and Bernie (big surprise) to be ones that are looking for something other than "send me another check" as a follow-up to your donation.

AOC and Bernie send updates and shit telling you what they're doing for their constituents, how you can get more involved, etc.
