I think that community is only meme responses I can’t remember the last time I saw them give any money or anything useful.

Thank you SatansMaggotyCumFart, I'll see if there's a mutual aid community in my city.

I don't think you can even see the communities to post in them with a Lemmy.World account due to the defederation. But then again, some apps let you manually enter the community you're posting to directly from the post button and I don't know if that would work. IIRC, Hexbear also defederated from Lemmy.World so that might not work either.

Once a community is de-federated from your instance you may be able to post to it, but it's the mirror of that community on your current instance not the real community. So nothing you post will go to that outside instance and nothing posted there comes in.

Lemmy.world has hexbear blocked. This is why I have a lemmy.today account. It’s general purpose and they make it a point to not block other instances, which is helpful for when I want access to all the communities.

I thought Lemmy.today was one person with fifty accounts.

It absolutely is not a meme community, they just have bot responses they use to help bump posts. It is 100% legitimate, but like all busking is hit or miss and depends on the person and what they're asking for. Many community requests are fulfilled though.

I'm homeless (working on it, have a few interviews coming up) and I noticed that there was a mutual aid community located in hexbear. Do I need to make another account or can I use this one to make a post there? Also if there's a loan/borrow community let me know.

Why not go to local irl groups? I can't imagine a few strangers spread out across the globe can help much

                This

Mutual aid is most effective with people you spend time with.

Global mutual aid just becomes a series of begging gofundmes

You're a big boy and I have faith that you're capable of scrolling through less than a page of posts to find the answer for yourself.

Join mander.xyz, To all their own, but I think it's really stupid to defederate with any community, and Mander does not defederate.

I’ve been through like four pages of that cancer and I never found one that was fulfilled and that was only a couple weeks ago.

I really don't believe that unless you're checking from a defed'ed account. There are literally multiple recent posts right now that have been edited to show they were fulfilled requests, which is common. Unless you're a serial busker(and there are definitely a handful of them) most people get at least some help.

You don’t even need an account if you go straight to the instance and how else would I know it’s all meme responses?
