It's because hair care products are a scam. That natural body sebum is all your hair needs. Most products cause an imbalance on your scalp and you way overproduce as a response, hence hair getting gross fast. It took months of greasy hair before I got to a healthy level. I use soap in my hair at most once a week. It's often more than 7 days before I feel I should wash nowadays. I have over 12 inches of hair for reference.

Sadly this is not true for everyone. I tried hair training for over a year and had a natural cap at like 4 days no matter what...

Possibly too much washing and shampoo. Washing your hair too much can be damaging to your hair.

That what I’ve told all my girlfriends. They’ve all said I have beautiful eyelashes and they want to know if I do anything to them.

I have literally never touched an eyelash besides wiping one out of my eye.

When I had shoulder length hair, I washed it with head and shoulders every other day and never got split ends.

Now some of that is probably genetics, but also I do think that so many beauty products that women are sold is designed to keep them buying shit to “fix” things that their body will eventually fix on its own. Humans didn’t evolve washing their hair with 3 different soaps every day. Hair just kind of takes care of itself, and the only thing that might need fixing is dandruff.

Same. However, I started using Redken shampoo and conditioner and that shit is amazing. It costs over $100 but lasts me forever and makes my hair so nice. But I only use it every few days.

My ex was always fascinated with how soft my hair was compared to hers and generally in good condition. She refused to believe I didn't use any product as from an all in one shampoo.

Meanwhile, she dyed her hair once a month and had an entire shelf of different products that were supposed to give her volume, bounce and spring while enhancing the color. Some days I swear her hair smelt like spray paint and felt like sand paper.

I also started doing this about 2 years ago, and if anything the rate of hair loss is increasing. I suspect it's unrelated to either and more a factor of my genetics and age.

People should google "shampoo hair loss lawsuit" and see for yourself. Dozens are settled for 7-8 digit sums just in the last few years and many on going.

Like a rubber hat? I also doubt that the hair itself "needs oxygen" so much that a tissu will prevent the dead thing to like look ok?

I'd say genes and too much cleaning away fats and stuff from the scalp.

cause an imbalance on your scalp and you way overproduce as a response, hence hair getting gross fast.

Can we please stop spreading this myth? Scalps do not adjust sebum production based on how much is washed off. There's no way for dead hair cells to report oiliness to their follicles - they don't have nerves, they don't send signals.

Sebum production is controlled by hormones. Different people produce different amounts. If you find that washing your hair every few days will suffice for your skin/hair type, that's great. But that advice doesn't work for everyone. If someone with skin that naturally produces high amounts of sebum follows your advice, they may end up with Seborrheic Dermatitis, which can cause dandruff, hair damage, and hair loss.

People should google "shampoo hair loss lawsuit" and see for yourself. Dozens are settled for 7-8 digit sums just in the last few years and many on going.

I gotta say since I started cutting my hair super short and only washing it with water and unscented organic soap it has entirely stopped falling out. Nothing has grown back but still. It's not all genes.
