What are some "slow" shows?
-
Sort of relaxed, slow-paced, not a ton of plot.
Home Movies (cartoon)
Schitt's Creek
Corner Gas
Painting/Fishing with John
Father Ted
Tales from the Loop. I describe it as Eldritch Mundanity.

What do you mean leaked? It was originally a YouTube series on cartoon hangover. It was redone by Netflix when they purchased the rights.
wrote on last edited by [email protected]Season 2 was finished and leaked years before netflix picked it up. When it got bought by netflix, season 1 was condensed and rewitten into like 3 episodes and a lot of the lines in season 2 were redubbed.
So much of what made the show good was in the original line delivery. Like Bee's line at the beach, "This, is as far, as we, can go." which was so perfectly done in the og, and then lost to the rehash along with so many other beautiful bits of voice acting.
The rehash of season 1 literally butchered the story, changing and adding so many weird, clunky and just plain unnecessary details, which then made very little sense with the rest of the episodes that were the og season 2, which were mostly just redubbed in places with the existing animation kept.
And the Netflix version also removed a really beautiful section of cryptic back story. That song made me cry the first time I watched it and the different animation style it had was really cool.
Also what happened to Wallace? Justice for Wallace! Og fishbowl planet was the perfect first temp job.
I am still sore about this. I love Bee and Puppycat so much and what happened to this show was terrible.

This was a beautiful show!
It's based on a art book that's very good. Electric State was based on a another book also by Simon Stålenhag.

Wait, help me understand. I see it on cartoon hangover on YouTube still. But it does seem like something is missing from what I remember. did they remove the original episodes?

Earth Abides
Its mostly slow. Apocalypse genre, without the insanely selfish caricature of the personal relationships between people.
I started reading it because I saw it in The Last Of Us S2. Pretty good so far
-
Early Doors is another one I recommend to people who like Detectorists. Another slow burn, slice of life show. Definitely worth checking out
Came in here to say detectorists, now I'm leaving with a new show to rewatch, score!

Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories and Extraordinary Attorney Woo are the greatest tv shows ever created. There will be no discussion.

wrote on last edited by [email protected]This is a link to the original pilot on the cartoonhangover channel from 11 years ago.
This isn't the song that made me cry btw, that one was the jellyfish hair song.
Edit: found the original season 1! not watched it yet but it's from 10 years ago, so it should be it.

If you're not opposed to anime: Frieren.
Totally chill, nothing complicated, hardly any plot arcs, pure bliss.

The Wire is one of the best tv shows ever made and it’s a slow burn especially in season one

Man how has no one said Friends? That's basically a white noise machine on loop for our house.
Friends is a really funny show if you skip over all the Ross and Rachael garbage. Chandler and Monica was a better love story.

Burn Notice, Royal Pains
Basically anything made during the heyday of USANetwork. “Dramas” without intensity.
Psych probably too

wrote on last edited by [email protected]Nichijou and High Maintenance are two that come to mind. Sort of opposite ends of the spectrum, but both are slice of life shows that are much more about vibes than plot.
Also if you like Home Movies then Dr Katz is a must
