It's important to learn this early.

Is this a bit? are you demonstrating the meme on purpose?
They're pointing out a flaw in the comparison.

Of course, lemmy is full of incels and doomers. But the fishing metaphor is a cliche for a reason.
In order to catch fish, you must go fishing.
When you go fishing, you can't just sit on the boat and wait for a fish to jump in. You have to cast your line out.
By putting in time and effort, you can get better at fishing. You can get better equipment and better bait, find better spots, and become more skillful.
No matter how much time and effort you put in, some days you just won't get any bites. It probably doesn't mean anything - just come back tomorrow.
Don't try to chase a fish down if it won't take your bait. You aren't gonna catch it, and you'll look like a crazy person.
Catching fish is lots of fun, but if it's all you think about while fishing you won't have a very good time. Of course, cast your line - but remember that the real point is to have fun and enjoy the world you live in.Many fish are happy to be swimming and don’t want to worry about hooks coming at them.

I mean, those fish are entitled to their opinion, but need to get over the fact that most of the other fish do want at least some nice fisherman to reel them in. And given that the fishermen want the fish, and the fish want the fishermen, and there is a whole assortative matching problem going on that everyone is continuously trying to solve, the fish who don't want to get hooked should just accept that there are going to be some hooks cast in their direction sometimes, and they can just not bite them politely and move on with their lives.
Also, all metaphors break down eventually.

In this example it's because you're not a fish. Go look for a shark and get freaky.
Sharks are fish.

That picture must be 20-25 years old now. Rememeber that as a demotivational (old meme format, now extinct)

Don't let them die. Make a lemmy community for demotivational memes and post them! I, for one, would be curious to browse them and probably spend more time than previously expected while doing that.

I'll think about it but it seems like a lot of work.

Then maybe just upload them all in a compressed file to archive.org and just post the link?
