Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?
-
What about "I love you Philip Morris?" definitely worth watching
Ooh I haven't seen that one! Thank you
-
For example, I don't like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.
But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It's such a cozy movie.
Thomas middleditch, the dude makes my skin crawl. Silicon valley is the only thing I've been able to watch with him, but when he's just on talk shows or being himself i have to skip past. Skeevy is the word that comes to mind.

Leo DiCaprio. No exceptions. The movies he's been in that I've enjoyed were enjoyed despite him and not because of him.
His entire approach to a character is to put on an over-the-top accent and call it a day. I've never had the sense that any of his characters were the actual character and weren't just "Leo with an accent". I'll be fair and say that he has improved in recent years, with movies like The Revenant being tolerable.
But holy shit, how his career went anywhere when people saw his "acting" in Titanic and especially Romeo and Juliet, is mind-boggling to me.
Didn't like inception or shutter island?

I cannot, for the life of me understand the appeal of Russell Crowe. Except I have no problem with his brutish density in L.A. Confidential.
Gladiator?
-
Nickolas Cage
but he's great in Mandy
I enjoyed him in Willy's Wonderland
-
hes also a right wing nuttie, which lowers his likability
I've heard this a lot but every time I look into it is always just him being religious.
-
Gladiator?
I tried to rewatch it and put my hate aside, but naw. He is just a roast beef on the screen instead of a man.
-
Have you seen The Nice Guys?
I have not, does he suffer a silly or terrible fate? Or is he supposed to be better in that?

"What's Eating Gilbert Grape"... of course he's very young... good stuff.

He's from Foxboro which isn't that close to Boston.
Also as an aside most people do terrible Boston accents and pronounce the city as "BAW-Ston" in said terrible accent. It should be "BAA-ston"
He was born and raised in Dorchester which is a stones throw from Boston. And even still, people in Foxboro absolutely have "the accent".

This gave new an idea.
Donald currently enjoys erasing history - rewriting slavery, removing BIPOC accomplishments, etc. What if we start removing him from old media? Re-record a version of that movie that didn’t have Trump in it, erase old copies of The Apprentice, etc.
AI versions which replace him with Obama. Extra points for having him shit talk the old host and joke about firing him.
-
You know he wrote Tropic Thunder and Zoolander?
I did, I forgot about Zoolander. That one's great too, but not in the same way as the other 2 imo. But yeah there is some talent in there XD
-
Tom Cruise, no explanation needed
Tom Cruise is weird for me because I hate the man but he's a good actor and a great action star and sells pretty much every role he's in.
-
Ooh I haven't seen that one! Thank you
It's what I recommend, together with the 3 you mentioned, when someone tells me they don't like Jim Carrey.
-
I have not, does he suffer a silly or terrible fate? Or is he supposed to be better in that?
He's amazing in the role. Everyone is amazing in that film.
-
No, its because he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Has he gone to seminary?
Has he been ordained?
Is he certified in any kind of theological field?
To my knowledge, no, he isn't.
He's no different from any other celeb promoting any other thing which they barely understand, like Madonna with Kabala.
I find it weird precisely because I would be more inclined to listen to an actual expert over a popular, pretty face.
...
I am not confused in the sense of 'why would he do this?'
Thats easy: He is being performatively, publically Christian, which ironically, is something you can find scripture to tell you that that's not a thing you should be doing.
...
But what is a Protestant doing promoting Lent, anyway?
Its fucking wierd, it would be like Marky Mark promoting Mormon diet restrictions.
Very, very rare to see any kind of ecumenism coming from American Protestant Christians, they usually hate the fuck out of Catholics, or just barely tolerate them, call them polytheists and the Church of The Beast after the Catholics have left the room.
Are you being honest about your experience here or was your church so incredibly farfrom the rest of the faith that ypu did notcelebrate Lent? That's really uncommon.
-
I agree tom cruise makes me sleepy, I did love edge of tomorrow, but id fall asleep to it a lot lol
Oh! I forgot about that one, I liked Edge of Tomorrow too

wrote last edited by [email protected]Uh, well, I am being completely honest, and I also think that American Protestants not celebrating Lent is actually quite common.

Catholics are more likely than Protestants to say fasting from a favorite food or beverage is part of their practice during Lent (55% vs. 38%).
That is to say, a supermajority of American Protestants do not seriously celebrate Lent with actual fasting.
My particular upbringing?
Yeah, also in line with this study, we had an Easter themed special service, with particular verses for reading, but we did not call it Lent, we just called it Easter Service, we did not fast.
So, yeah, I am assuming you are either Catholic or European, as... you'd have to be out of touch with American Protestants to think its 'really uncommon' for them to not celebrate Lent... when the reverse is true, its actually really common for that to happen.
Leaning also toward Catholic given that you're really concerned about Lent, and your user name is, as best I can tell, a play a common Catholic phrase, in Latin.
Roughly: 'Where are you going, mankind?', right?
As juxtaposed against I think Peter's 'Quo Vadis Domine?' or 'Domine, Quo Vadis?'

Jared Leto, too bad he is in the Tron: Ares which I'm almost looking forward to watch simply because of nine inch nails...
That little fucker ruined Blade Runner for me. He can't act and his voice rubs against my colon and makes me want to shit my pants.
The ONLY good thing he did was get the shit beat out of him in Fight Club.
And to think we might have had David Bowie as Niander Wallace if they had just started filming earlier.

This is a bit more informative regarding your statistic
"Those who rarely or never attend a religious service are the most likely to ignore Lent (89%)."
So it's really non-devout people who arent doing it.
