No, I don't think it does. The list of trans people I know keeps getting longer as years go on. Only ever knew one person who detransitioned and they were very clear about it being a choice they made for convenience, rather than what they wanted.
Gender transition is not a fad. It is people realizing that old-world categorizations reflect new-world ideas a little less effectively every day. It is people rejecting the tyranny of having an identity chosen for you instead of just doing what you like and being who you are. It is the symbolic idea of freedom of choice and the actualization of one's real self. That's not something that fizzles out. The genie has left the bottle and the world will continue to change because of it.
