Dude, my entire family was in the resistance. My great grandfather hid jews on his farm, was captured, tortured and died in a concentration camp. My family smuggled crashed British pilots back to England and liquidated traitors (family in my mother's side) and blew up train tracks and communication lines (family on my father's side). When my grandfather died, we found a huge walk-in closet filled with gas masks, emergency food, machine guns and ammo, a chest filled with hand grenades. In The Netherlands. I've had a lot of history lessons in school. Plain history, political history, economic history. I know a lot about nazis, how they come to power, how they work.
I see what's happening right now. The lack of democratic and media resistance right now leads to them gaining power, which will lead us having to escalate to more violent and unlawful measures. I don't want it to come like that, that's why I'm politically fighting the far right in my country (and fighting fake news) and even though they have taken too much power in my eyes, they can't just do whatever the fuck they want.
The US, however, is a failed state and the democrats were way to passive (and also too right wing themselves). So there's no hope. Violence may be the only option. But just don't dehumanize your enemy, don't treat others how you don't want to be treated yourself.

In 2020, you could had any one of the over a dozen democratic nominees who had a free health care plan for the US. But you ended up with ONE old as fuck dude who wasnt interested in it. And then in 2024, instead of keeping on going with the clearly far too fucking old dude, or binning him much earlier, he got kicked out, and some chick that was so not good enough that her healthcare plan was actually laughed at. And then just last December, when AOC was nailed on for a committee seat, that same fucking ghoul, came out of the shadows to make sure that some old as fuck guy with fucking cancer, got the seat instead. Thats right, the party you think is so fucking amazing, choose a 75 year old man with cancer, over a 35 year old woman in her prime... I wonder fucking why...

Tbh, I do agree with him that we shouldn't dehumanize. Fascists are humans, who deserve to be put down. There. Easy. No dehumanization, and you can still say that they deserve bullets blowing their brains out the back their heads.

I love his character, the actor really does a great job. But he's super evil. He's a great representation to the real world, as many people think there's no collateral damage too great to justify reaching their goal. Dehumanizing others, committing war crimes, hunger for power, forcing their beliefs onto others. I despise people like that.

I guess I wasn't trying to say there's absolutely no-one that idolises homelander. Some people watch Star Wars and want Darth Vader to win. There's not many of them, and social media tends to amplify the "edge lord" opinions.
Just that I thought sometimes pearl-clutchers can see people enjoying something that contains horrific aspects and interpret it as meaning those people support horrific things.

They are literally and directly enemies of humanity, who need to be treated as such.

I think there's a pretty big difference between someone rooting for the dark space wizard against the light space wizards in a story set in outer space, vs taking the side of a psychopathic superman in a show that's literally about calling out fascist chuds and male power fantasies, in a world that is meant to directly mirror our own.
Scifi and fantasy also try to mirror the real world. In star wars, the whole story about the empire and the rebellion is basically the story of any great Empire in history. It becomes too big, crooked people take over, it becomes corrupt, it becomes too restricted, too evil to keep power, rebels will fight against oppression and the empire will fall. With a new government filling the vacume, and the whole story starts over again. Heroes become villains. Good guys become bad. They all have their reasons, they all have twisted justifications for their actions. Whatever filter is used, it's mirroring society. Whether it's space scifi, fantasy or super heroes.
