I don't trust people with garages that clean

They’ve got the showroom floor; it’s just for show.

The tools always look completely unused, like the antique kitchen tools my mom hung on the wall for decoration.

I actually really like the idea of using a cardoor logo downward shooting bulb for a fridge light

There are companies I like, but there's a limit to my simping for any of them. Projection light on your fridge door crosses a line.

Americans haven’t had garages for 30 years. They have on-site storage units. Some of which can fit a car.

I get where you're coming from, I'm logo free to the maximum extent practical, but a fridge is inside your house. If i wanted an "M" projection on my fridge light (I definitely don't, but if I did), I wouldn't consider that providing free advertising.

I'm more thinking about how I'd have to go out of my way to hook this thing up and make it work on a fridge. It's not like that just came with the fridge, or that wires are easily accessible for power and (presumably) switching it on and off when the door is closed. There's some custom work here, and while I don't think it's a crazy amount of effort, it's way more than I'm willing to go through for my personal favorite car company (Mazda).

I don't know how the Mercedes ones work or what type of fridge he has, but BMWs just have a door light and a filter goes over it for "M", "BMW", the roundel, etc., and my fridge just has a light.

I assumed he found you could put the filter from the car on the fridge light with a minimum of fucking around.

But you're right, the more time and effort spent on this, the stupider it becomes.

A proper garage should have exposed framing and a pile of spiders next to a pile of grandpas drill bits

One thing about the 350Z bit. When you have a two-door sports car, the doors tend to be noticeably longer than any four-door, and that does make it harder to get out when someone parks too close. Having had a 370Z in the past (which is basically the same frame as the 350Z), this is definitely the case there. I have an NC Miata now, and even on that the doors are longer than you might think.

By the looks of it, 350Z guy could have parked closer to the front of the lot if he wanted. He didn't, on purpose, and still got jammed in for no reason.

Back when I was a smoker I would park in the back of the lot and smoke my cigarette (disgusting, I know). But what always got me is I’d purposely hold the cigarette up high if another car came into the lot to make it clear I was smoking, but even if it was empty people would still park right next to me, get out and glare at me. What a bunch of stupid fucks.

Sweet, mine is proper. TIL my basement is also a proper garage.

My grandpa was a high school shop teacher after serving in WWII, so I have an absolute gob of early power tools and, more importantly, a ton of manual tools. I love using the manual tools. They take for-fucking-ever, but they don’t intimidate me the way power tools do.

I suppose, but... coming from the world of GC Impreza coupes (where the doors are very long - similar in length to F-body Camaros and whatnot) and even NC Miatas, I think this driver just has main character syndrome. The empty spaces nearby may have not been empty when the other car arrived, and people just frankly don't think about things as much as we may think they do.

I chipped the paint on the edge of my door and now if my door touches another car it stabs through their paint. I put on bumpers to stop this. But sometimes they still don’t work. My Mustang is tough to get in and out of.

Did you come across a bunch of power tools where the cord screws in to the base, so it’s real easy to replace?

Like the tools come full apart, that’s insane! They also probably had guides with them to fix them!

Like I can probably still use those shock factories! I certainly do not -want- to use them, even though they almost certainly still work (other than maybe corrosion), but the documentation to repair them probably still exists and that’s amazing!!
