When I was young I was a bit of an arse. Raised by narcissists, I definitely had narcissistic tendencies. It was all I knew.
When my first son was born it was a profound moment. I saw the potential in that tiny, helpless baby and his possible futures... Based on what I was and what I had to teach, I realised that those futures weren't great. So I changed. I have tried every day since to be the parent that I wish I had. I have embraced empathy and kindness. I have shed the anger and vanity... And I have forgiven myself for not doing it sooner. I'm not perfect. I make mistakes.
When I see a baby I see the potential. It reminds me of how much I've changed, how proud of my kids I am, how much I love my family, how much joy I have in my life.

    More or less...

Do you think you wouldn't care about babies if you were born with empathy and a drive to be a kind gentle teaching human?

Inspired by recently buying a cajon, and my husband immediately buying another for additional living room seating because he loved it.

Harmonica. Lot's of joy playing but I quickly realized I'd like another in a different key to have a wider pitch range.

A dรถner in Germany. Everything about it is so good, I ended up eating every other day the next week I was there.

"Born with...?" We are born with nothing but potential. We are a product of our environment, right up until we realise that we are a product of our environment. Then we have a choice; continue as we are, or choose to be something different. It doesn't matter which we choose, though... We can no longer blame our parents, our society, our environment, for who we are.

That is a strange question, though. If I was born with empathy and a drive to be a kind, gentle, teaching human then I think babies would be high on the list of people I would want to spend time with. Kindness begets kindness and we know the world could use more kindness!

                I am like this with

                Deviled eggs

                French Fries

And actually the electric bike, though I didn't get another. It is just so freaking convenient and we have a few people in the house.

Oddly enough, not with most drugs, nor drink. But speed, yeah. My kid gets Adderall for ADHD and I told her just keep it in her room I don't want to see it. Unless I can have it every day for the rest of my life. I really like speed.

                So delicious!

                  A cookie.

                  ::: spoiler Pro tip:
Grab a cookie, close the packaging or container, go somewhere else, then eat the cookie. You will want another cookie but not enough to actually go back and re-open the packaging.

Alternatively, eat something more nutritious first, then set a specific amount of cookies you're allowed to eat. Also, brush your teeth after eating sweet food, such as cookies.

                  That's how i lost 10 lbs.

                  1. Buy less snacks. Say no once at the grocer instead of every day.
                  2. If you do have some then they stay in the kitchen. You serve yourself the serving size. Leave the kitchen and eat the cookie. Easier to say no to getting another.

Urgh, no. I have ADHD, I get prescribed methylphenidate hydrochloride. I take it because it makes my brain work a little better.

At a recreational dose though? No. Urgh, fuck no. The comedown was fucking awful. Zero appetite, can't sleep, can't think properly, just why? ๐Ÿ’›

                      Not a traumatic brain injury...

It's a change in perspective. It's hard to explain without referencing the experience itself.

It's like spending your whole life at the bottom of a valley. You have everything you need. Your life is whole. And then someone takes you to the top of a mountain and you can see a million valleys and a million mountains and an endless sky.
Your valley is the same, it hasn't changed, but suddenly everything is different. Your life is still whole, but that means something else, now.

That doesn't do it justice, but hopefully you get the picture...

Well I have the enelope batteries the someone else suggested, and Amazon basic rechargeable. And devices like my Lazer thermometer, certain mice, certain flashlights tend to not operate fully or as long. Thought the device was just on it's last leg until I popped a generic alkaline in it.

I don't have any super fancy high end rechargeable AA batteries, I've just noticed over the years they're not 100% equal in every device. I use rechargeable when I can, but have disposable alkaline if the device sees limited functionality with rechargeable.

                        It's the voltage.

An "Alkaline" AA cell is 1.5v at new and it slowly tapers off as it discharges.

A "rechargeable" AA is 1.2v fully charged, and stays there until about 30% charge (IIRC, it's been decades since I used them) then the voltage falls off a cliff.

From that you can see that a device that uses two AAs is designed to run at 3v, but when you use rechargeables, they only kick out 2.4v.

(They'll do that 2.4v for a lot more AmpHours than the alkaline can do their 3v, and can be stuffed full of electrons to do it over and over again though)

Like everything in engineering it's about the right tool for the job. ๐Ÿ’›

Yeah I've only taken a few doses of Adderall and it really comes in "can think to varying degrees" and "call poison control to see if I need to go to fhe hospital". Pill organizers hsve stopped the latter.

I think that sounds like meth not coke. Vyvanse and Adderall are already pretty close to meth in chemical structure anyway.

After experiencing a pretty good scare when I was a kid. I've avoided repeating that and limit myself to a couple at most.

Yep. This is why I don't touch alcohol anymore. I don't have an addiction or dependency, but when I drink a beer it makes me want another, and that one makes we want another. Then I'm hungover and filled with regret the next day. No point to it, so I just don't do that anymore.

Inspired by recently buying a cajon, and my husband immediately buying another for additional living room seating because he loved it.

Dates with the person who became my wife. (Fortunately, she felt the same way.)
