        I wouldn't say I've been "missing" work...

Screaming into my boss' face during a heated and un-warranted argument that my co-worker initiated. In all honesty, my boss was in the right in this particular instance. Co-worker never did apologize, to my knowledge. All I can say is my boss has a lot of patience...

Not quite 4 months, but I've seen this happen and it was weird.

This was awhile ago, back when working from home was pretty unusual.

The guy took a bunch of equipment home but stopped working on anything. Management really wanted the hardware back so were waiting to ambush him at the office to fire him and take the hardware.

So when he just didn't come in, management shrugged and said they couldn't do anything about it until he showed up.

It was months before someone called him and just asked for the equipment back, to which he did without hesitation - But he did get immediately fired afterwards.

Covertly recruiting a person on another team to start a small project that was in direct opposition to a project my team had planned to start on in a few months and aligned with all relevant stakeholders. He ...disagreed... with it so his solution was to make this other thing happen and then there would be no room for our project when we were going to start.

Yes, there was liuqid hellfire when we found out. He kept his position as CTO for a few more years. Eventually he pissed off his own boss too many times and got fired very hard.

We were having a meeting and our boss was bringing up on-call schedules, and how the new policy was going to be much stricter, as well as a three missed calls and you're fired deal.

In the middle of his talk, my coworker loudly announces 'excuse me' as he reaches down to his bag, pulls out a glock, lowers the slide to make sure its loaded, then places it back in his bag. Then with a lot of enthusiasm, waves his hand saying 'Please, continue.'

Our boss said something like "I'm sensing some push back on this so we're going to rethink it before we go further." The changes never materialized.

In fairness we had all a bit to drink so this was pretty hilarious at the time, but in retrospect it was a pretty fucked up joke.

I used to work for one of the big chain pizza joints. On my 21st birthday my boss and a coworker wanted to take me for a beer. They take me to a bar on the edge of town. We are there for about ten minutes when one of our delivery drivers walk-in and orders a drink. We are at the other end of the bar and wait for him to take a drink, then we all say “Hey Bob!”. Bob looks down the bar and says “hey guys what’s up?” We explained why we were there and then asked why he was since he was on the clock. This was before cellphones were in everyone’s pocket and Bob “couldn’t find” his delivery so he had to stop SOMEWHERE for a pay phone, the beer was just a bonus. Bob had worked there for over 20 years and I guess the boss just didn’t care.

Bob also called into work sick one day and when asked what was wrong he said “My dick hurts” and hung up the phone.

Worked retail sales and this bastard would lie constantly. He was a pathological liar. It eventually caught up with him and he got fired, but for whatever reason it took a lot longer than I thought it should.

With the caveat that this was about a month before I quit, so I can't say for sure that the kid didn't eventually get fired, just that if he did it took longer than that: I was working in a grocery store on a closing shift, and one of the high school kids that worked there after school brings in one of those "illegal" (I think they're only illegal to sell and not to own or something like that, but you can get them on Amazon easily anyway) extra bright green laser pointers, and starts randomly waving the thing around, to include right next to my face as I was stocking shelves and around corners a customer could walk around without warning.

Only time I've ever had to make a complaint about someone to my supervisor, I'm not someone to complain about people easily but to my understanding you can blind people with those things. I even mentioned that to the kid and he just laughed and told me "duh that's the point".

All I heard about the complaint later was "Oh yeah he's been told not to bring it in again". This was right in the middle of that point around COVID where it was hard to find retail workers and you got all those memes of "nobody wants to work anymore", so my suspicion is they might have just been worried about replacing him.

About a week later, he also waited till the supervisor was away from the front of store for awhile and connected his phone to this tv display that normally was for the in-store bank displaying ads, to make it play ytp videos at high volume (or whatever the modern term for that kind of thing is, I'm not sure if they're still called that).

I mean, it could technically be valid, if someone had a medical emergency involving it, though it might not be the best phrasing.

Old job we had management that were such wussies a coworker would do arts and crafts at her desk all the time. Manager would then ask me to do her tasks when the deadline came near. I refused. This went on for a couple years.

I'm calling bullshit on this, sorry OP. That just sounds ridiculous. I'm not buying it.

Did you mean to say the coworker made a gun cocking sound and pretended like he had a gun? While still fucked up, it's at least a lot more believable vs. him having an actual gun like that.

The whole division got shut down and everyone got laid off. that was almost a decade ago
