And this is where some of the worst long-term damage to the US is going to be felt.

The world seeks reliable trade partnerships and the US is willing throwing them away to empower its biggest rival.

It's such a a foolish decision, both for the US, and for France. Further empowering China will probably lead to serious consequences, as they get more and more aggressive, and have a serious population crash and massive gender imbalance. Russia went to war for far less.

It's still hard to believe that we are stuck with this fucking idiot, but he's ancient and fat, and musk is just unstable enough that he might take the VP on a high speed joyride in a cyber truck....

The French FM Barrot is on a trip in Asia and meets his counterparts from countries in the area. He made some statements about 'China ties' but there were no agreements made with Beijing, but he did make agreements in Jakarta as France and Indonesia agree to boost Pacific security as tensions with China persist.

The headline is a bit misleading as it remains unclear what 'closer ties with China' really mean here, and the article clearly also says that there are major differences between France and China given Beijing's support of Russia in its war against Ukraine, for example. It is always good if political leaders talk to each other, but so far no decisions have been made and France appears to be understandably careful.
