I mean, what's the difference on the outer screen being exposed vs the entire screen of a regular phone being exposed?

I have a 2023 model and if the outer screen gets cracked, big deal, I don't use it for anything except checking the time without opening it up. And the main screen is completely protected when closed. I'm a farmer and my phones are usually broken within weeks, this one has lasted me 6 months without getting cracked. Mainly because it's small enough to not fall out of my shirt pocket and go up an auger.

I say that mainly because of the Motorola's past with repair services of the outer sceen and casing.
They will do it, for almost the price of a new phone.
So as sick as the screen looks, when it breaks, you will have a pretty sick paper weight or pretty empty wallet.

          • not saying other phones don't have expensive replacement screens, just usually not as expensive as the device itself

I primarily went with this after my 6a got a cracked screen and the replacement, even on Amazon, was more than buying another used 6a. So it's not restricted to Motorola, for sure.

It's no different to any other screen in that respect. Just stop dropping your phone, or if you really can't do that use a case and a screen protector.

With the outside screen small, when you take a little breather from doom scrolling and close the phone when you put it down, that click and closed phone makes it a little easier to resist instantly picking it back up right away.

If you use the volume buttons to take a camera photo, when taking a selfie with the phone closed, the smaller length and bigger thickness makes it easier to hold the phone oriented so the buttons are much more convenient for your fingers to press.

The earlier flips were even better in this respect because the outer screen was so small it basically only functioned as a clock and notification panel. It's kind of a shame that style hasn't been retained by at least one manufacturer.
