What community would you like to see more active on Lemmy?
-
Regardless of style “web novel” and “light novel” aren’t specific to a source country like manga and manwha are.
Both Wikipedia and Wiktionary define them as Japanese. The same goes for the original Reddit community or the database the bot (Myne) gets her info from. I did not take down your comment (it's still up) but pointed out that it's the wrong community for that reason. I didn't do it on a whim.
I'm not categorically against Korean (or Chinese) novels, but they're by every definition I know simply not "light novels". I believe that a general book community would be a better place to discuss other translated works. For reference, the place on Reddit to post Korean Webnovels would be r/noveltranslations instead of r/lightnovels.
wrote last edited by [email protected]Thank you for the clarification. I've always just searched TITLE light novel and it just comes right up when looking for the source of a graphic novel.
If I had the bandwidth I would start up novel translations myself, but alas my life is too busy to moderate and maintain it.
Thank you for your own efforts as a moderator and taking the time to clarify.Edit:
I'm not good at using Lemmy search, but I figured out how to find my post here: Link
I found a discord server that was dedicated to the series I was talking about, but left it since I don't like my discord cluttered.
I read like 20 different stories across Korean and Japanese authors. The bulk keeps me distracted enough to not have spare time to chat. Although I miss having people to converse with. -
I suspect most people aren't subbing/following communities on Lemmy. So post the community or topic you want to see pop off. And reader(that's you) if you are interested in that community click the link and follow it.

We need more activity over there. I hope to make a post or two soon, but it's sad only seeing a couple new posts before seeing things from months ago. C'mon 3D artists!!! Where ya at?

If Lenny were less complicated to understand I would!

I was clear. I know it exists, it's just dead and again, seems like there are some downvoting every post out of spite.

The Yogscast community for one. That's what I sought out here first, and it's dead as the desert.

Childfree.
The Reddit sub is quite active, but the Lemmy one is a ghost town.

[email protected] is basically dead, though I am as guilty anyone of not posting more.
[email protected] has seen some posts lately but I wish it was more active.
[email protected] for motorsports.

I've been working on a bot to help with serving content to that community but it isn't ready for deployment yet. Once it's finished there should be a lot more content being posted more regularly there, but I want to do more testing and tuning before enabling it to make sure it's not doing more harm than good.

Perhaps some consolidation might be warranted here?

I know about piefed but not posting there since I tried creating an account with piefed and they said that you cannot create account from my ip region.
So kind of no point on having india community on a instance that doesn't allow account from Indian IP address
You should be able to post to [email protected] from your sh.itjust.works account. Have you tried that?

Wow, quite a few pages there, but they all have the same problem
not enough activity. C'mon Internet!

Not one community specifically, but I really wish that communities about sports - specifically American football - were more active. I really miss that from the other place.
American exceptionalism strikes once again.
