So instead of switching to a different website, they spend an hour researching, buying and setting up a VPN in order to still use PornHub?

What do you mean “setting it up?” You just install it, and click connect (or chose a country with one of their servers) easily.

allow region blocked people to circumvent restrictions? AFAIK it still does that.

That’s not the sole purpose of it. The way it does it was what was important. And that method is flawed.

Spankbang alone blows PornHub out of the water in my opinion. So does Xvideos. I guess it depends what you’re into? I don’t like all of the incest shit on PornHub.

I see... and agree. In my world PornHub seems to be the most famous but I rarely visit.

Seeing some "unexplored" options with all the suggestions here hehehe

Right, because we've never checked ID for things like tobacco and alcohol before?

These porn companies should work on efficient cost effective ways to verify adults instead of using politics and social media to increase profits. I'm sure you are aware profit is higher if children are allowed on their websites.

It's very different handing my ID to a store clerk, who barely looks at it because my birth year starts with 19, from uploading a photo of that ID to a sketchy service who now has a permanent documentation of precisely who I am and what sort of freaky shit I'm into.

Sure, the tracking services already know this, but they don't also have a photo of my ID that I willingly gave to them to prove it's me.

Which is weird since I often don't hear much spoken dialogue in most porn films other than fake moans and and orgasms. Also my focus tends to be elsewhere...

I think the oscillation described people's activity time. Over the course of a day, people who would register for a VPN are much more likely to do so during the evening, because during the day they are busy with work. So you observer on a daily basis a peak like this.

Such charts are very common with services used daily. For example, social media usage in a given region often has a peak during the morning, a big peak during lunch time, and in general goes up after work time.

Of course not everyone works at the same time, but a majority of people have more or less the same work times, so we observe the peaks.

The only real interesting part is that there seems to be no major change in usage over the weekend.

Video over Tor is pretty awful, simply due to the way Tor works; Bandwidth is inherently limited, because it’s shared by everyone using the network. Same reason you should avoid torrenting over Tor.

But if your video is buffering over a VPN, you need to find a new VPN provider. Mine maxes out my gigabit connection.

Are there going to be bandwidth problems with vpns when more countries block porn though?

Like lots of France just joined them, and the rest of us lost a bunch of French exit nodes (at least for porn). The increase in subscribers should help expand bandwidth at big servers, but there’sa limit when we’re talking whole nations.

People using to to circumvent location based restrictions may not care about the anonymity feature of Tor. They just want pron. At least until the fascists start arresting viewers.

I'm shocked that this many people feel the need to disobey a rule that is only there to help the children. Next step must be to ban VPNs altogether, and enforcing all Internet users to be identified with their real identity (/s obviously).

Fun fact: they already tried. In the same law where they tried to ban E2EE a few months ago. It went about as well as you'd expect.

                                        "tres bien" is "very good"

"si vous plait" is like "please"

"plus fort" is like "more strength"

I've never studied or learned French, but you can pick up some of this stuff from "throwaway" French in other context and the etymology shared with other languages.

So, basically just the stock U.S. porn phrase translated to French.

I'd argue that "plus fort" would mean "harder" in this context but I'm not an expert
