whats the cheapest legal way to dispose of my dead body so i can stick it to the funeral industry?
-
fuck thousands for a coffin. or hundreds for an urn. can i legally be burried in butcher paper?
can i donate my body to science and skip burrial all together?
i want my final action to be a big middle finger to the funeral industry picking on people in their weakest moments.
When I die just throw me in the trash

What in the fuck did I just read?
Anyway the disclaimer at the bottom of the page is gold

Donate everything still working and the rest goes to a medical school for practice.
Do that and your organs will get sold from the back of a van

No lie, i want a sky burial. Your body is split open and left on a mountainside populated by vultures, after a few days the villagers return and collect your bones, the only thing left. They grind your bones and mix them into crackers, which are then spread around the fields for birds to eat.
Your entire body goes back to the birds, i love it. My wife isn’t taking it seriously but I mean it, i want one of those -
I probably should have said "safely" rather than just "sanitary", I was thinking about water burials and ground water contamination when I said that.
And also just like... Leaving the body out in a public area.As long as you're not putting people in danger, and you're not disrespecting the deceased, what would be illegal?
Most states have laws indicating you must involve a funeral director to ensure the.body is disposed of properly, and then define the licensure requirements for a funeral director to include the types of disposal they can oversee.
It means they don't need to define every type of burial you're not allowed to do, and there should be a qualified professional to ensure whatever you're doing is okay before you do it.The libertarian impulse to say that if it doesn't hurt anyone it should be legal butts into the reality that every time we have that policy for body disposal things tend to go funny in unexpected ways.

Well, in my mind it's freezing to death on a side walk pressed against a wall trying to stay under the one unobstructed over hang.
Please, I can only get so erect.

Have nothing of value left
Debt with scummy companies is much better.
Max out all your cards or tell your kids to do so. Buy stuff that is consumable so there are no assets to reclaim.

wrote last edited by [email protected]No, I understand the need for laws around it, for people's safety.
But the restrictions seem excessive, since it seems likely that there are only a few options for disposal that a funeral director can be licensed to do, rather than training them on what makes something un/safe and letting them use their judgement.
And strange that they basically made laws that say you must use this private industry. If you're going to legislate that a particular service must be used, then that service should be a public service. But now we're getting off topic lol. -

There's a book called "Stiff" by Mary Roach where she looks into all the various ways to (legally) dispose of your body.
You can donate it to scientific research (my personal preference) and they will use it as a very accurate crash test dummy (usually).
Things like the glass in car windows and car crumple zones were invented with the help of such donations, and she claims that on average 14 lives are saved by every body donated.

But now we're getting off topic lol.The laws are usually amongst the oldest ones in a state and only revised pretty infrequently if someone has a particular issue. The dead person constituency is pretty weak, so the matter doesn't get a lot of attention. Basically once they wrote down that embalming chemicals can't be explosive (to prevent the coffin torpedo and general miguided insanity) there hasn't been much need to update them.
In a lot of ways the funeral industry is better than others, regulation wise. You don't need to do business with anyone. You're dead. It's illegal to act as a funeral director without a license, and the regulations are entirely imposed in the director. If you've got a body to get rid of, you don't have to pay a funeral director. The government will take care of it pretty quickly if no one else will.
We've got similar restrictions on barbers. Except for the government giving you a haircut if no one else will. They don't particularly care if you're hairy.I do agree though, a lot more basic functions of society should be fundamentally provided by the public. "Doctors" would have been a better, but less funny, example above.

Not in Spain.

I want to be launched into the ocean with a catapult
Only heathens and foreigners would want a catapult. True noblemen would demand a trebuchet.

When I die just throw me in the trash
That's against the law lol

I want it to be with as little dignity as possible, just to ridicule all the pompousness and ceremonial BS
You can keep your fancy trebuchet! -
Become entirely homeless and cut off all contacts and remove all identification so no one will be around to care when you die.
I'm sincerely curious, what is done with corpses like that? And who takes care of it?

There are burial grounds that are basically natural parks, where you have to be buried in something biodegradable, like a shroud or pine needle basket, and no grave markers are allowed besides something like a tree or uncut rock. (Burial locations are recorded by gps.) I'd like to be buried in one of these places. Not sure what the cost is, though.
Ironically enough, it sounds expensive because it sounds like someone bought a bunch of land for that purpose to appeal to people who want to be buried naturally. Big money Maker for them.

That's my plan. So far it's working out!
It's been 20 hours so far since you last reported, Still holding up?

Ashes don't burn any further. That is why they are ashes.
so ull be inside ur homies forever
-
Wouldn't that also be funeral industry
Depends on who owns the land, I guess. But they specifically mentioned wanting to be buried in just a wrap or something, which places like this let you do.

Could be. Being buried in one of the old, forgotten cemetaries that dot the woods in some places might work. You might be able to just add an extra body there and no one would ever see or question it.
