BuyFromEU now on Lemmy

Did not know that, interesting!
-
Is this just for the EU or Europe in general?
I think Europe as a continent, but not limited to Europe only. I think nobody will raise their eyebrows if we buy Canadian...
-
We do support Canada!
We'd love for you to join as the 28th EU state!
Wait, what do you mean "We are good just the way we are, sorry"? What if we gave you Greenland? (you can have the Suez canal too)
The last time Trump was in power I thought we should get much closer to the EU, potentially as a member
I look at Europe's worker protections and privacy protections as a model we all should follow.

Oh you bet! I subscribed to CBC Gem and watch Pornhub
Both have some surprising content
North of North is good

I think they mean like Norway and Switzerland

As a Canadian, Iâll support you EU.
I just hope youâll support us too!
Hopefully not your tar sands
-

I just hope youâll support us too!
Only if you deal with all the french people
-
Looks like a brexit trap

This is true. [email protected] is for whole Europe and not just EU (the community logo is bit misleading atm).
It's of course ok to have a more EU specific community but I personally think Lemmy isn't big enough to have so much fragmentation and incredibly specific communities (yet).
But we can link to [email protected] from our community if OP decides that there is need for EU specific buy-community. Fediverse is free and both communities share the same goal: support closer economies!
If the decision is not yet made:Â I think us Europeans, whether EU or not, should stick together and focus on c/buyeuropean over c/buyfromeu. For one thing, Ukraine, Moldova, and the Non-EU countries on the Balkans are the most in need. For another thing, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland have serious high-tech goods and services to offer â and breaking the near-monopoly of the US in tech is arguably the most important thing to work toward right now. Finally, while the UK is somewhat iffy with regard to privacy regulations and because of its Special Relationship with the United States, the Starmer government is the most pro-European government the UK has had in years if not decades, which is something we should cherish, especially now that the US have become an antagonist. Not to forget the enormous support the UK has given to Ukraine.

Agreed!
We at [email protected] decided to keep the community since it also already has nice posts from e.g. Ukraine and Norway and for the same reasons you mentioned.
Again, it's totally ok to have both communities and we link to [email protected] but sadly it seems OP hasn't been online since they went to sleep and haven't been able to contact them about possibly linking to us as well.
But yeah, all good!
