I wouldn't trust Trump to pour water out of a boot with the instructions written on the heel.
I don't trust anyone wealthy/powerful enough to be above the law with my family, community, or country. That includes Trump and his entire Cabinet.

Since the Civil Rights Movement, The Establishment has changed things expressly to make it so the same tactics would not work again. And expressly so a scandal like Watergate would not force a resignation as well.
Those tactics would be a good compliment but alone will not carry the day. We need organization, and leadership.
I would say innumerable groups Federated on a forum to cooperate on what they agree on. Where people can work in separate private groups as they see fit, and we could find and groom our own political leaders and help them get into office, and indeed business. The Federated bit is key to prevent the entire thing from being subverted or crushed.
We need some popular and strong leadership, with popular allies all across the country tailored to their districts but cooperating on the main facets like working people not being screwed by the rich without consent, and freedom from government oppression and mass surveillance and the like.
I think we are way past incremental change. Climate scientist around the world are either saying we are past the point of no return or getting close to it. Isreal is close to implementing their final solution for the Palestinian people. The US Supreme Court just overturned the 4th amendment. The 13th, 14th, 15th, and and 19th amendments are openly on the chopping block. We are past needing small steps in the right direction.

Even our most promising individuals reached the highest of positions and still blinked when staring into the void that is our economic and political systems. I wish you were right that we can rely on "strong leaders" but time after time they take the money and run. Or try changing things within but that takes time. And it puts a lot of personal accountability on other people when we know our core systems need to be uprooted and replaced.

That's absolutely by design. We're no better than crows. As long as we have shiny things to distract us, we won't bother looking up to even admit what they're doing or to hold them accountable.

I asked trump supporters I knew this a long time ago, some said yes they would. I've since removed all known trump supporters from my life. No patience for the dishonesty and cultism.

There are still idiots going to the Catholic church and permit their kids around clergy.
You can't fix these idiots. Best you can do is ensure that no pedos are around and if any are discovered, they are promptly fixed so they can't reoffend again.
Vermin has to be rooted out.
