Eh. As i recall it the rules at home went "if you're well enough to play video games, then you can go to school"

    Different times.

I remember having a throat thing and a bit of fever when I was 15, I've gotten better after taking some paracetamol, but my mom said I should just go to the doctor just in case.

The doctor gave me a sick paper for like 3 hours as he thought I was faking it, so literally just the doctor's visit, and told me "I can still make third period if I hurry". I was mostly okay for that Friday, but it got worse after I got home and I spent the weekend in bed.

Next week was quite light since the classroom was pretty much empty save for the people who were sat furthest away from me on Friday. Wonder why.

The worst as an adult is when you get sick and your kid gets sick as well. That's hell.

I still have to parent but I'm not going to work. I actually kind of like it when my kids and I are all sick at the same time because we all just lie down together and watch cartoons or play video games.

So sad that we went through covid and people are still so idiotic to accept working while sick as a society. Paying for one person to stay home while sick saves far more than half of a workforce making mistakes and not getting anything done for 2 weeks to a month as transmission cascades. Not to mention the additional low performance month as their home life is disrupted by additional family members getting sick, or the probability of serious complications for key individuals of a large workforce. It isn't tough, or reasonable to perpetuate such a culture; it is absolute incompetence and lackadaisical ineptitude rooted in a paranoid conservative distrust of a small minority of potential abusers. Or really it is a willingness to harm and kill others instead of creating the potential for the oppressed and abused to cause minor but still insignificant retribution across the class divide.

Well yeah. A hand-me-down nes with Mario. We were allowed to watch re-runs and vhs though. I saw a lot of "Sunset beach" and "Dr Quinn" while home from school.

Its worse when youre sick and theyre not! You stand no chance at keeping up

When youre all sick, everyone can do nothing together

That's still infinitely more Mario than none Mario.

Yeah I never bothered trying to fake being sick because accepted practice for being sick was "you will lay in this bed and sleep until you are better." Been sick in bed for 36 hours? Sucks, tough shit, go back to sleep. No you can't watch TV. No you can't read a book.

Agreed but unfortunately it's either don't get paid or work from home. I don't think people socially accepted it as much as had no other choice.

You do have a choice, it just happens to be rather desynchronized. It happens at the voting booth.
