    Unfortunately this completely lacks any background information.

    Ireland is a prime location for offshore wind power so the idea that there would be a structural power shortage seems implausible without further info.

    Either way cutting down on data centers and AI slop wasting energy is a reasonable thing to do, no matter where in the world.

      They're building an offshore wind farm very near me but Jesus it's slow going and a bunch of NIMBYs are objecting to it on aesthetic grounds.

      It would be political suicide for the current government to prioritise almost anything over housing at this point. We've had a housing crisis here for over a decade.
