i mean… i like fantasy and sci-fi a lot, but those mushrooms are probably only there because of all the dog poo along the trail…
EDIT : and before anyone says “i bet you’re a lot of fun at parties,” i would like to inform you that : yes, i am, but mostly because i casually bring the word “poo” into the conversation
I genuinely bet you're fun at parties.

You mean I could die in my sleep or wake up in a world that has advanced 1k years?
I'll take that deal every time
Careful what you wish for

Where the fuck did those great grand children even come from?
Some people already have kids. They're great motivation for taking a walk alone in the woods.

1k years is definitely far enough that all bets are off on what you'll find when you wake up.

Looks more like a path to a secluded patch in the feywild containing a long table laden with huge swaths of food, no exits, with the path no longer behind you… and a tall Pale Man seated at the head of the table.

We're heading for 2nd dark ages, so everything will be like 500 years ago. Technically you're in the future, but you feel like you travelled back.

I feel the same way. I would love to see what happened. If it's good, I wonder how our time is perceived in history and if it even matters at all by that point. I probably would regret it if it's a hellscape, though. Not sure what I would do if civilization no longer exists.

Exactly. And let's be real, without humans, the world either would either heal or find a new balance totally inconsistent with human life
And if I woke up and there's no more humans... Well then at least I'd know. As an endling, I'd try to find out what happened and build us a gravestone
But in any of these cases, my life only gets better from when I wake up. It'll be the lowest point in the rest of my life, as opposed to now, where most paths seem to lead to living in a world that gets worse
