Is fediverse turning into reddit?

I don't know, but my bot sense tingles a lot less in Lemmy. There also isn't a hidden penalization score that can be associated to accounts like on Reddit, what you see is what you get. Almost no backend shenanigans, not even shadow bans. If only it didn't hide downvote information like on Reddit.
reddit has a oddly uncanny amount of
"Word_Word1234" usernames đ§

Iâve upset a prominent mod on Lemmy.world so much by simply having a differing opinion that they banned me from their sub instantly and permanently (with no ban reason given) and then must have vine and asked their other mod buddies to ban me from their communities that Iâd literally never so much as even visited lol. Within probably 15 mins of the initial ban I was banned from 3 other communities permanently, and that mod wasnât a mod on them.
I messaged a few of the other mods on the main sub to let them know what he did, but didnât hear so much as a peep from them.
Name and shame.
-
But it was a friendly warning.
Its interesting how people are dogpiling this person in the name of "freedom of speech"...because they don't like what he said?
There is nothing I care less about than the rules in some tiny forum I don't plan on visiting. Brigading him because someone is in love with the term "bro" and can't live without it is weirdo behavior.

Reddit is lemmy's woke.
You disagree with me?
You failed my purity test and therefore you must be a damn liberal

In the current internet it's sadly necessary to enforce very strict rules to keep the space civil. The vast majority of active users are trolls (just look at the success of Toilet Paper's Kirk's campaigns against intellectuals). Keeping bro-culture out is not a bad idea since it's a quite toxic culture often hostile towards women and queer persons.
If you're looking for bro spaces, go somewhere (or create a comm) that's accepting of it. If you like the space, simply follow the rules.
Bro wut?

The only meaningful difference between here and Reddit et al is that no one is exploiting our addictions and compulsions for financial gain here.

Piefed.Social is a small community run by a handful of power users and trolls.
Just block that instance and move on with your lives.
-
People like that seem to be who piefed is made for.
You seem to have a bug up your ass abiut piefed. Are you one of the lemmy devs?
-
whatever you say shit for brains
Ah yes, such a reasonable response from .ml. bro...
-
Lemmy is decentralized and admins of any instance can see upvotes/downvotes and moderate their instance as they want, we are far from reddit where the ceo of the company can decide to censor the whole platform.
I would like to highlight another problem that makes lemmy stink as much as reddit: why are you posting this in the asklemmy sub? Popular content on global frontpage is shit and a bunch of sub are hijacking all the traffic, had you posted this in another sub there would be 5 comments at best.
Your second paragraph already answers the question therein.

Ah, you're right. I think this is for instances:
It doesn't work for me (400 error), but it might be defederated?
I don't think there is a way to view an entire instance from another one. I may be wrong but I haven't been able to figure it out in 2 years.
-
That's true.
Source: I'm banned from blahaj instance.
Well that's not an endorsement of you as a person.

On Voyager you can set tags on users and add an arbitrary amount of up or downvotes to their account. Looks like another will get the -1000 downvote + twat tag award!
Hey look, it's a person being given a tiny amount of perceived power and immediately abusing it! Just like those reddit mods you hate so much. Interesting....
It's almost like human nature is human nature and human shittiness transcends platforms.

Isn't that the default if a user selects auto-generated name?
-
bro, bro hates the word bro for no reason.
@[email protected] bro, what is wrong with the word bro?
Nah, Poet left reddit early, he's just getting bored, craving attention, and annoying AF. I would refuse to contribute to anything he's admining/moderating.
I've had to block him on three separate instances so far. He keep coming back as something different.
-
In theory sure, but not in reality. Most communities are already consolidated on here, so shitty mods have control just like they do on reddit. âJust make a new sub if you donât like the modsâ didnât work in Reddit and it doesnât work on the fediverse for the exact same reasons.
What we need is for mods to basically have no power over users or what they say. No bans, no deleting comments, no removing posts - just let people ignore/block who they want, and give them robust filtering options. It would be infinitely better for everyone who isnât a big girls blouse who craves censorship of differing opinions.
This is a luxury opinion you get to hold when there aren't communities organized around harassing and hassling you and everyone like you. Your idea has been tried again and again, and it always turns into a Nazi bar.
There is nothing more free than the ability to build a new community with rules you prefer. You have that freedom. You don't have the freedom to show up in an existing community and insist they change to suit you better.

What a thin skinned pussy.
They should go back to being a Reddit and Discord mod
Yeah, RaoulDuke is a thin skinned pussy, coming here and whining that he got banned from somewhere he doesn't want to be. Oh no! Who cares?

It depends on your app. With Mlem if you navigate to a user or community you can then view the instance.
